Thank you to everyone who has donated to IVV in this difficult year. Some of you have been designating an honoree for your donation, so we will be posting those honorees as they come in. First up, Dr. Chandwani wished to honor IVV’s founder, Dr. Bud Tysinger. Thank you Dr. ChandwaniI think we can all agree that Dr. Bud as he is known in Zambia, is worthy of that honor!

Sending prayers to our friends in Zambia, where there are not enough testing kits or ICU’s. However, Zambia started temperature checks and health screening for travelers long before we started taking similar steps in the US. Zimba, where the eye clinic is located, is 1 hour north of Livingstone and not a major city, but is proactive in doing its part to screen for Covid 19.

In spite of Covid-19 we are trying to stay on track with the solar project. Construction has started on the small structure that will house our battery backups and solar equipment.... we used a local contractor to get the battery house built. Everyone is looking forward to getting this project completed so we have reliable power at the clinic.

Our staff working at Zimba Eye Clinic are taking the same precautions that we are here in the statessocial distancing, masking of health care workers, and frequent hand washing. For our friends in Zambia, though, the safety net is more tenuous, as the nearest ICU is an hour away in Livingstone. For all our friends around the world, stay safe, wear a mask when you are out, and wash your hands!
