One of the things I’m passionate about is getting more women into tech and security roles. I’m proud of the work we’ve been doing in the Women in Enterprise In...frastructure and Security (EIS) group. From events like the EIS Tech Talk to partnering with employee groups within the company, we work hard to make sure more women are hired in security and tech roles. This work is part of my core being, and I’m thankful to work at a company that facilitates and encourages pursuing your passions. The culture at the Facebook company is unlike any company I’ve ever worked for. It’s a bottom-up system, meaning our team goals aren’t passed down from leadership. Instead, everyone has the ability to identify or suggest goals and projects they are passionate about and feel are most important to work on. I lead a small team that is building an application security program to improve the security of Enterprise Engineering applications and services. We do this by performing security reviews and delivering security consultation services, including threat modeling. Every day is a new challenge and a new opportunity to solve difficult problems, which is why I love it. Facebook serves billions of users, and our job is to ensure we’re solving the right issues by addressing current and future threat trends. To do this at scale, we’re growing our team. If you’re inquisitive, passionate and like to face new challenges, we’d love to meet you. Jane O., Information Security Analyst

I’ve been at Facebook for nine years, in roles across product and operations. I’m currently on the Enterprise Engineering team, working within Productivity Lab...s. I support product managers, and we’re focused on accelerating impact for Facebook’s enterprise products. I’m also leading a new initiative called Customer Care, which was built in our Austin office. The Customer Care project is exciting to me because I’m really passionate about creating the best customer experience, and we’re helping solve a really large foundational problem for Facebook. Imagine that you’re locked out of your account but not sure why, or you’re unable to make a purchase in Marketplace. That’s where we come inwe build products to help resolve those issues. We’re also building a company-wide platform to support people who have similar experiences across our apps. There’s increasing opportunity in our Austin teams for people who want to work in more technical roleslike engineering and research. An added benefit is that Austin is both rich in culture and an affordable city, often named one of the best places to live. Facebook’s Austin office is a smaller office but big on culture. When we’re not working from home, we go out for dinner, grab coffee, and really take the time to get to know each other. During quarantine, we hold virtual orientations and happy hours to help welcome new team members and get them up to speed. The Enterprise Engineering team in Austin takes great pride in establishing a strong team culture, which ultimately helps us build better products, and that is really important to me. "I’m grateful to be part of a team that promotes the safety and wellbeing of our employees. Facebook was one of the first companies to adopt remote work after t...he onset of the pandemic. Now that we’re working from home, our priorities have shifted to helping employees adapt to remote work. Projects like creating remote badges enable our new hires to get the services they need without ever stepping onto a Facebook campus. We’re also working on tools and systems that will help ensure we can safely return to the office. I see my work as an integral part of the way we take care of our team members. The products we build are an important addition to the generous wellness benefits and paid parental leave that make Facebook such a great place to work. In my role, I’m empowered to be creative, share ideas, and collaborate with senior leaders. There is no hierarchy. Enterprise Engineering has expanded and evolved considerably since I joined Facebook five years ago, and I love being able to help shape both our work and our culture. I’m also extremely grateful that Facebook gives us the flexibility and resources to be successful while working from home. From granting additional time off and home office equipment to increased health benefits, it’s wonderful to know that Facebook truly cares about our well-being. Poornima R., Engineering Manager

If there’s a way to cut down a task from taking three days to 10 minutes to complete, I’m going to figure it out. Time is one of our most valuable resources, a...nd I love to identify those opportunities to give people their time back. Automation is a powerful tool. On the Enterprise Engineering (EE) team, we look for problems we can fix through automation. For example, I recently designed and built an internal tool that significantly reduces the time it takes employees to self-troubleshoot issues that may be related to their internal digital identity. If we have ideas, we’re empowered to run with them. It’s amazing how quickly each employee can have an impact here at Facebook. The EE team supports everyone who works at Facebook. We build products, tools, and services that help teammates collaborate and be more productive while doing so securely. As we’re working from home now, we face many different challenges, such as increasing VPN and video conferencing capacity, and ensuring that we can move quickly enough to adapt to the ever-changing organizational needs. Everyone in EE comes together to ensure this goes smoothly. I love what we do within EE because we collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the entire company. Being able to help people be more efficient is rewarding, too. Melvin F., Systems Engineer

As opposed to buying a third-party tool, which is going to do a mediocre job meeting the employees' needs inside the company, we build many of the products from the ground up to both meet the extreme scaling challenges we have at Facebook, as well as to make sure that the tools are the most specifically designed to let the employees do their job in the best possible way. Enterprise Engineering leader, Atish Banerjea, recently met with Forbes to talk about the key functions of EE within Facebook, his philosophy for leading the organization, and how we bring our innovations to the world.
