ISG is honored to host a panel on mental health, featuring renowned Iranian panelists Dr. Holakouee and Dr. Bashiri We hope to see all of you join us as we discuss the topic of mental health within the Iranian community, as it is often a subject that is forgotten and overlooked, on Monday October 26th from 6-7pm. This event is open to the general public; you do not need to be a current student at UCLA to attend

We at the Iranian Student Group unequivocally believe that #BlackLivesMatter. We denounce police brutality in all forms & stand in solidarity with the protests happening across our nation. Historically, the Iranian-American community has contributed to anti-Blackness, and in order to be true allies in supporting and uplifting the Black community, we must be critical of ourselves & do better. We have included a guide compiled by the labor of some folks in @iranianalliances tha...t is a good place to start dismantling the anti-Blackness in your families & communities. Additionally, we have attached a Black Movement Syllabus compiled by Antwann Michael of the UCLA Sociology Department. Those texts are an excellent starting point for learning about the history of American racism and systems of inequality. Finally, we have included a link on information about where to donate. As a student-led organization, the wellbeing of our members and our community is of upmost importance to us. We understand coronavirus is a challenging time for many of our members and students in general, so we have decided as an organization to extend our deadline for board applications to 11:59pm on May 15th.
