Dear Irvine Music Festival community, In the midst of turbulent and uncertain times, I hope that this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. We have been carefully following the progression of COVID-19 in our local community and beyond, and we are saddened by the great socioeconomic impact it has had - and continues to have - on all of us. In light of the government and health official predictions of the duration of the pandemic, the Irvine Music Festival Board... of Directors, with the agreement of our partner Concordia University Irvine, has decided to cancel this summer's program. No doubt this comes as a disappointment to you, as it does to us. However, we believe that the safety and well-being of the community, our participants, faculty and guest artists come first, and the continued risk of infection is too great to warrant holding our program. We make this decision for the greater good and well-being of society. I am proud and humbled to be a part of this outstanding community of inspired young music participants, world-class faculty and guest artists, our compassionate Board and donors, and our enthusiastic audience. I thank each one of you for your support and encouragement. We plan to continue IMF in 2021 with renewed vigor and enthusiasm! Dear Irvine Music Festival Community, We realize that this is an unprecedented time for all of us as we struggle with uncertainty on a global scale. While we continue to monitor, assess and respond to the situation with the Coronavirus and COVID-19, our hearts and thoughts go out to all of your families. We understand our applicants may require more time to prepare their audition materials. Therefore we have decided to extend our scholarship deadline to April 30, 2020. ... We are coordinating with Concordia University Irvine and their safety protocols as we continue to prepare for our summer 2020 session.
