Harley-Davidson came up with the best mufflers in the industry for the 1912 Silent Gray Fellow. Funny, now Harleys are known as the LOUDEST bikes in creation. Harley also added the rear mudguard (the laundry ladies must have been pleased) and the sloping frame tube which allowed for a lower seat height. Technical advances were the optional rear hub clutch which meant the bike could be stopped without stalling the engine and the Schebler carburetor improved reliability.
