We are super excited after receiving 25 bikes yesterday to help refugees travel to work! Special thanks to United Way of Stanislaus County for providing a $5,000 grant to purchase the bikes and to San Jose-based Good Karma Bikes for providing the bicycles, helmets, locks, lights, and baskets at an amazing rate. Thanks also to the good folks at Abrahamic Alliance International, which sent a team of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim volunteers to Good Karma to refurbish several... of the donated bikes and write notes of encouragement. And finally, kudos to Dwan Robinson of Modesto-based Ready. Set. Go Moving Services, who provided his time and his truck to transport the bicycles and helmets from San Jose to the IRC's Turlock and Modesto offices. This was an amazing example of good people coming together to do extraordinary things. These bikes will go a long way toward helping refugees and special immigrants here in the Central Valley move along their path toward self-sufficiency. #ThankfulThursday #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #RefugeesWelcome
