Salon.com interviewed us today regarding Apple and their statements on throttling old devices, batteries, etc. Regarding the question of whether replacing your battery on your older phone will make it run faster, our short answer is, right now, no. Our understanding of how the current throttling works, is that it is throttling based purely on which model iPhone you have. It does not seem to use data on your battery's actual health that iOS collects and then decides whether t...o throttle (if your battery is old and in poor condition) or not throttle (if your battery is a new replacement battery and is in good condition). It assumes that your average user never replaces their battery over the life of the phone at Apple or a shop like ours.
