I want to educate my clients and friends about "certified lash artists". They are on the rise in California, and practice without esthetician or cosmetologist license. The State Board does not recognize "certified lash artists" as a profession. They are required to be licensed as an esthetician or a cosmetologist to perform eyelash extensions. Liability insurance agencies will not cover "certified lash artists" due to lack of the licensing proof. They will not protect you if ...something happened to you such as eye infection, allergic reaction, and temporary blindness. Working at home is a red flag because "at-home spa" in California is considered illegal as per the State Board's regulations. If "certified lash artists" said that they are under the salon's insurance or the salon owner's supervision, run fast! Salons don't offer liability insurance to their employees. They are required to get their own insurance.
