The 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race has become a 24-hour sprint race in recent years with racers and teams pushing their talents and machines to the absolute limits as if each lap were a qualifying lap. The days of Daytona victories being measured by laps are history. 42 years ago, in 1979, a Porsche 935 won by a staggering and record-setting 49 laps with a blown turbocharger and 10 minutes left on the clock. Danny Ongais parked the car on the apron and waited for the chec...kered flag before he crawled across the finish line to claim victory. But technological advancements have dramatically increased reliability, enabling cars to not only go the distance but maintain a ten-tenths level of intensity from green flag to checkered flag. This year saw an extraordinary number of cars battle their rivals on the same lead lap throughout the entire race in virtually every category. The premier DPI class had 5 cars finish on the same 807th lap, with Acura Claiming victory over Cadillac. The LMP2 class saw a battle between 2 ORECA teams both finishing on lap 787. The GTLM class saw the Corvette team finish 1-2 on lap 770 with the BMW and Ferrari only one lap down. The GTD class also saw 5 cars finish on the same 745th lap with 2 more competitors only a lap down. Unfortunately, the Porsche presence suffered with the absence of the factory team. The Weather Tech Racing 911 RSR finished sixth (AKA Last) in the GTLM category, 10 laps down from the Corvettes. Porsche faired a little better with Wright Motorsports in GTD with a fourth-place finish but on the same lap as the winning Mercedes AMG GT3. Next Stop: Sebring - March 20th

The BBi Autosport team have become the resident experts on the Porsche Turbo platform and continue to push the limits of turbo performance into the stratosphere while maintaining daily driving reliability. Their intimate knowledge of the GT2RS has grown exponentially after some very serious 2RS projects, including a dominant performance at Pikes Peak that had the potential to claim overall top honors on the mountain. Their proven and reliable kits include IPD Plenums & Turbo Y-Pipes for both track and street Turbo’s. Here’s another GT2RS dressed in White and featuring a variety of upgrades that propel this machine as if it were shot from a gun. More IPD product info: https://bit.ly/3nO1FJi

Most IPD Plenums are a simple Plug & Play bolt-on performance part for a variety of late-model Porsche engines, but occasionally you have customers and dealers who push that envelope to a level typically reserved for top-tier motorsports. Our friends at BBi Autosport leave no stone unturned in their engine building and parts development programs. Every opportunity to extract the maximum engine potential from each component and assembly method are relentlessly exploited. Thi...s approach holds true for their latest Turbo intake system that employees a 997.1 Competition 82mm Turbo Plenum. This uniquely named intake system is reserved for the elite Turbo customer looking to boost his/her performance bar into the stratosphere. Enjoy the eye candy of this 3D Printed Aluminum intake manifold with secondary fueling provisions for 991 and 997 DFI Turbo Engines. Reverse engineered in CAD from Laser Scans of different generation engines. Larger volume manifolds with large plenum and upgraded throttle body allows for optimized flow. Our good friends at Flat 6 Motorsports performed this very impressive dyno test with a 970 Panamera Turbo. They even achieved gains well beyond our claimed numbers. The IPD Panamera Turbo Plenum has an accentuated diversion area with larger openings that force the 2 paths of air flow coming from each intercooler to meet in a more parallel direction. This dramatically reduces air turbulence and increases air velocity, ultimately improving boost response and overall power outpu...t. This more efficient design provides the same great power increases as it does with the Cayenne Turbo, an additional 30+ horsepower and 32+ foot pounds of torque. The Panamera Turbo Plenum delivers net performance gains across both power curves from launch to redline. The factory plastic intakes are also prone to cracking, especially with Panamera Turbos producing higher boost levels. The IPD Plenum will not crack and will handle the highest of boost levels. It utilizes all the factory hardware including the OE 76mm throttle body. The only thing more impressive than the substantial power gains provided by the IPD Panamera Turbo plenum is how easy they install. More IPD Plenum info can be found here: https://bit.ly/30f3DYH

Porsche hasn’t exactly been trying hide the heavily anticipated 718 GT4 RS or even disguise it while driving around city streets and race tracks. The question now isn’t if, but when, this ultimate mid-engine Cayman will be available and what kind of price tag will be on the window sticker. As you can see from these so-called Spy-Shots provided by Motor Authority, this is definitely no standard GT4 Cayman. The extensive venting, lowered stance and aggressive rear wing scream RS. Fingers crossed that this track focused machine is produced is large quantities and receives the full GT3 engine and suspension treatment. Read More>> https://bit.ly/3bI6QVq

By Design Automotive Group Delivers a Flame Throwing XR Package 991.1 Turbo Our good friend Sam at By Design just put the finishing touches on another 991 Turbo equipped with their powerful and proven XR package. This 991.1 Turbo benefits from a fully built 4.0L motor that features an upgraded Dodson clutch that enable the 1100 wheel HP and 900 wheel TQ to be transferred to the ground and propel this Porsche into warp speed. The combination of upgrades in the By Design XR pac...kage produce double the factory power output. All of these upgrades are orchestrated by a custom tailor tuned ECU by COBB. The By Design XR packages always feature an IPD Plenum and Turbo Y-Pipe to help increase and optimize intake air flow delivery into this fire breathing dragon. The 2020 Pikes Peak Hill Climb is officially in the record books and Porsche once again left its mark on the mountain with another strong showing. There with two GT2 RS Clubsports and one 935 all gunning for overall King of the Mountain honors as well as a Time Attack 1 class win. The BBi Autosport GT2 RS EVO continually set the bar in all practice and qualifying sessions up to race day making them the team to beat. But the mountain takes no prisoner and even the smallest mis...cues can have catastrophic consequences. Unfortunately, Sunny 2.0 suffered that exact fate. Driver David Donohue went slightly wide on a right hander halfway up the hill causing a right rear tire puncture that forced him to pull off course and retire. Donohue started his ascent with some blistering times through sectors 1 and 2 and was on a pace that had the Porsche of The Main Line GT2 RS Clubsport set for a possible overall win. But as they say The Mountain Decides. Congratulations to all the partners involve in this incredible effort. And another big congratulation to David Donner in the GT2 RS CS and Jeff Zwart in the 935 for taking P1 and P2 wins in Time Attack 1, keeping Porsche at the top of the class. Looking forward to PPIHC 2021. Stay tuned for more post-race content coming soon... #SunnyPPIHC2020 #POTMLPikesPeak #BBiPikesPeak #PPIHC2020 #PPIHC #GT2RS911PikesPeak #SunnyGT2RSCS #BBiGT2evo

The stage is set for another high altitude epic battle at Pikes Peak. Three Porsches will face off against each other, the mountain and themselves in an all out pedal to the metal effort to be crowned King of the Mountain. The 156 turns that climb to 14,115 are notorious for crushing cars, drivers and dreams. But the driver who best navigates this treacherous track at 10/10ths will be rewarded with Mountain Glory. This weekend will determine the best of the best between these evenly matched GT2 RS Clubsports and 935. Good luck and God Speed to all the Porsche participants this weekend. https://newsroom.porsche.com//porsche-935-pikes-peak-inter

Second overall was teammate David Donner in a GT2 RS Clubsport at 3m59.702s and Jeff Zwart setting the third-fastest time with his Porsche 935-19, at 4m09.122s. Sunday’s race day on the full 1...2.42 mile stretch of the Pikes Peak Highway, which includes 156 turns and 4,720 feet of elevation gain from the start line at 9,390 ft to the summit finish line at 14,115 ft, is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Mountain Time.
