Some may wonder how PW did not get in to the B737 market, as it the B737 classic/NG has been sole-source on engines by CFM (excluding the grounded MAX). Than again, being shut out of the 737 market, PW joined with Rolls-Royce and MTU to build the V2500 engine via International Aero Engine IAE for the A320 Family (excluding the Neo). IAE has done a good job for the A321, but in my opinion CFM’s reliability is still the favored on the A319 and A320. In addition, advanced acoustic technologies has supported the stringent noise reduction requirements and also enhanced the fuel burn reduction potential of the engines. ... The Airbus A380 has been around since 2003, prior this her median flight the B747 dominated the skies as a Jumbo jet.
