Today, March 25 is National Medal of Honor Day. The Naval Air Facility El Centro (NAFEC) officially named their airfield Vraciu Field in honor of legendary Navy pilot Commander Alexander Vraciu, a World War II ace with direct ties to the base and who was nominated for the Medal of Honor. Imperial Gold honors all of our veterans and heroes, see a full list of Medal of Honor recipients here. https://www.cmohs.org/recipients
Gold is nature’s most malleable metal. That means that it can be pounded so thin that one ounce of gold could cover about 100 square feet of a surface. The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) calculated that one ounce gold can be drawn into 50 miles of wire, five microns thick. This makes gold critical to a range of electronics and even our space program! #imperialvalley #imperialgold
Imperial Gold was honored to support Fremont Primary School’s kids heart challenge program this year! The program brings our school community together in a fun way, to rally around physical and mental wellness. Students learned how they can have happy and healthy hearts, as families were challenged to get active, and help others with special hearts. #imperialvalley #imperialgold
Gold and Your Health - The earliest medical use of gold can be traced back to China in 2500 BC. Chinese physicians used pure gold to treat furuncles, smallpox, skin ulcers and to remove mercury from skin and flesh, according to GoldBulletin. Today the metal is primarily used to treat patients with arthritis. Gold salts are used to reduce swelling, bone damage and to relieve joint pain and stiffness. #imperialvalley
Happy St Patrick's Day! The Imperial Valley churns out about two-thirds of the vegetables eaten by Americans during the winter -- including cabbage! Imperial Gold is proud to be a part of this community, so vital to our national economy.
Did you set your clocks back this weekend? Gold had been critical to watch and clock making for centuries. Fire gilding was used in the earliest watches to protect gears and other components from tarnishing and corrosion. Gold is also indispensable for chip bonding, wiring and frequency adjustment in electronic watches. #imperialvalley
