Hacker update: My computer guy said they blocked access to lots of things, but he was able to fix everything. Luckily I shut it all down & got my computer to t...he repair shop immediately. Beware Quick books scam alert I received a call from quickbooks about a problem with my software. It seemed legit, the process was much the same as any of my past calls, except I realized I didn’t call them. They called me. They said I needed to update to the newest software. They knew the last 4 digits of our business credit card, and several other key bits of info. Said the IRS didn’t receive my 1099’s or W-2 (a problem I am in fact having so it all seemed legit). But my gut said otherwise. As soon as my 6th sense kicked in, I called QB, and quickly disconnected the computer access & turned off my computer. The fake QB guy called back & I asked for his full name & ID number to verify him on QB. He hung up. I called the fake phone number back & of course it didn’t connect me to qb’s. I immediately took my computer to my tech guy & he knew immediately. He said it’s a computer ransom where they hold your info ransom until you pay. Hopefully I shut it down & got my computer there in time. Lesson learned: NO COMPANY, not IRS, not Quickbooks, is going to call you!
