The Wall Street Journal reports that, immigrants arriving from China and India now outpace immigrants arriving from Mexico, which is a major reversal from a decade ago. In 2014, the most recent year for which data are available, approximately 136,000 people arrived from India, 128,000 arrived from China, and only 123,000 arrived from Mexico. The article states that this shift is due in part to an improved job market and declining birth rate in Mexico, as well as an increased number of highly educated technology workers coming to the US from Asia for skilled jobs.
