Let’s talk about FAST-ED. Not a lot of providers are aware of this screening tool to help identify large vessel occlusion (LVO)! FAST-ED stands for (Facial palsy, arm weakness, speech changes, time, eye deviation, and denial/neglect). It was found there was little difference between evaluation from EMT’s vs Paramedics, and results were comparable to the results of NIHSS evaluations upon ED arrival. ...
