Thankful to the Seafarers for the work they do. So many have not been able to go on leave/go home in a timely manner. This contest below provides an opportunity for you to share your stories.

In exactly one week, IMO will be marking the Day of the Seafarer by issuing a strong call for governments to recognise seafarers as key workers. The COVID-19 p...andemic makes this day more important than ever. Seafarers are the unsung heroes of the global crisis, transporting the food and essential foods we all need. They also face tremendous challenges, with thousands of them still stranded onboard ships. Join IMO's call for seafarers to be recognised as key workers, so they can continue to provide their essential services and return home at the end of their contracts. #SeafarersAreKeyWorkers Find out more here : https://bit.ly/2UTOtpc

The International Maritime Center in the Port of Oakland remains temporarily closed due to the COVID 19 Pandemic and the current shelter in place health care orders for Alameda County and State of California. We will keep you posted. In the meantime, prayers for all the seafarers, your families and the Port communities. Practice social (physical) distancing, good hand hygiene and wear those fancy masks! Blessings and Peace. Nancy

The International Maritime Center remains closed due to the COVID19 pandemic Shelter in Place orders by both State and local Governments and for the safety of our volunteers and the seafarers. We do not expect the orders to change until sometime in May and will keep you updated. Seafarers and Port workers are in our thoughts and prayers during these challenging days for us all. Peace.
