I want to give a very belated shout-out to Monica Buescher @syntereo.photography for volunteering to come shoot some photos for us! She gave us over sixty amazing pictures in the end, so it’s hard to pick favorites... but I did my best! Thank you again to Monica and Grace! I’m so grateful to have gotten the chance to meet you both.

Day 2, and we have uncovered some new evidence! A crumpled note was found near a trash can, and it seemed related... we gathered handwriting samples from the suspects and the students compared it to the note. Education and enrichment is vital for children, now perhaps more than ever. Imagine That! has taken up a role that both supports and protects teachers and faculty within the school system, and helps students from being left behind in this new system of schooling. We provide supplementary classes and engagement, homework help, IT support, and socialization all within a sanitary and distanced environment. These measures will undoubtedly be vital for the coming semester, as well, and Imagine That! needs your support to continue serving the community. Our President and her Vice opened their Snack Shack today!! This was a self-directed initiative that they came up with and solicited donations for, and then faced and priced all of their products themselves. It’s already been a pretty big hit! Thrilled to announce our campaign to move Imagine That! to the Nut Tree Park behind Fentons! We want the chance to present our plans to City Council for consideration. With the support of the Vacaville Museum, we want to revitalize the area as a place for families and the community to play, explore, and learn. Furthermore, we would be able to open up access to the Harbison House, and memorialize the cultural beginnings of Vacaville. We can see a future where Vacaville has a p...roper science center, with indoor and outdoor exploration and education. Our vision includes free general admissions, regular community events, educational outreach, and so much more. We can Imagine That! Can you? Imagine That! has so much growing to do, and the city once visited the possibility of allowing us to put our roots down in this very spot. We are asking for a chance to revisit this idea. We got to WORK with some #foodscience today, and made butter the old-fashioned way! The kids reviewed their macronutrients and then got those lipids de-emulsified, then strained and flavored their butter. It was a huge hit!!

NASA has discovered water on the Moon

Just in time for Halloween. The Bat Nebula (NGC 6995). This image was taken from my backyard with an ASI 2600 camera and a Stellarvue 80mm APO telescope. It rep...resents 8hours worth of data. This haunts this cosmic close-up of the eastern Veil Nebula. The Veil Nebula itself is a large supernova remnant, the expanding debris cloud from the death explosion of a massive star. While the Veil is roughly circular in shape and covers nearly 3 degrees on the sky toward the constellation of the Swan (Cygnus), the Bat Nebula, NGC 6995, spans only 1/2 degree, about the apparent size of the Moon. That translates to 12 light-years at the Veil's estimated distance, a reassuring 1,400 light-years from planet Earth. In the composite of image data recorded through broad and narrow band filters, emission from hydrogen atoms in the remnant is shown in red with strong emission from oxygen and nitrogen atoms shown in hues of blue. Of course, in the western part of the Veil lies another seasonal apparition: the Witch's Broom Nebula.

Sometimes our students go out of their way to do things for us. Usually, it’s through pictures and creations in the art room that they dedicate to a certain staff member. It’s a great night for stargazing! Right after sunset, we will see the peak of the Draconids, which is a meteor shower that happens annually. It happens as debris from comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner burns up with contact with our atmosphere. You can expect see up to TEN shooting stars per hour, so lay out in the yard or on the porch and keep watch! Since it happens so early, it’s a great event for the kids! If you enjoy astronomy, keep an eye on our feed while we announce some exciting events coming up this month!
