Tai Chi Practice and Recovery in Elderly COVID-19 Patients As the world continues to navigate through this global pandemic, medical professionals are exploring ancient practices like Qigong and Tai Chi to help patients recover from COVID-19. In a study called "Tai Chi for the elderly patients with COVID-19 in recovery period," it is stated:... "The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak has caused a great impact in many countries. Older people are more susceptible to the virus than other people. As a good health exercise suitable for the elderly, Tai Chi has a positive impact on heart function, blood pressure, lung function, immunity, etc. It can enhance cardiopulmonary function, increase the elasticity of blood vessels, and improve the body's self-regulation function. For the elder patients with COVID-19, Tai Chi has outstanding merits... Practicing Tai Chi regularly may reduce the decline of cardio respiratory function in older individuals. A 6-week Tai Chi program indicated significant differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure for hypertensive patients. One study also showed that Tai Chi exercise training could decrease blood pressure, results in favorable lipid profile changes, and improves subjects' anxiety status. Older Tai Chi practitioners indicated a higher level of microcirculatory function during exercise than did their sedentary counterparts. Exercise therapy is an active self-healing method, which benefits associated with improved overall physical and mental health, and physical functioning. It may be associated with minimal side effects as compared to drug and surgical interventions. Tai Chi is a traditional physical and mental training. The movements of Tai Chi are lively, continuous and oscillating, which accords with the psychological and physiological characteristics of the elderly. Studies have found that Tai Chi has many positive effects on the health of the elderly, and it is a very suitable exercise for the elderly. In the fight against virus infection, it is particularly important to improve the activity of autoimmunity, reduce the body's susceptibility to infectious diseases and strengthen its resistance. Tai Chi exercise can enhance the secretion of erythropoietin and leukocyte stimulating factor in the body, leading to physiological adaptation changes in the blood system, so as to enhance the blood function, especially the immune function. Therefore, Tai Chi has its outstanding advantages in the face of COVID-19." Access more studies, articles and resources by getting your free Tai Chi & Qi Gong Way membership. The Physiology of Tai Chi and QiGong Human Anatomy and Physiology are commonly understood in contemporary science to be infused with functionality that is the workings of the body at every level. However, in China, physical function is just one aspect of what the ancients called Qi. In the Healer Within Medical Qi Gong program, you will hear and see references that are reflective of what Qi is and how the Qi could look or feel.... Let's explore the anatomy and physiology of Mind Body practices in Qi Gong and Tai Chi. How is functionality in the equivalent of Qi triggered? How is it enhanced? How is it sustained? Is it possible that we are energetically connected with everyone and all things as a part of the total sum of Qi energy in the whole world? Are we even connected with the whole universe? In the Qi Gong view, the answer is YES. Learn more by watching the video below

"Is everyone out there able to control and manipulate Qi (Chi) energy?" Some beginners struggle to feel the energy when practicing Qigong and/or Tai Chi, sometimes they wonder: Is anything happening? Am I having an impact? What is this mysterious force that it seems others can master and manipulate? At first controlling Qi can seem like a difficult even impossible quest. When asked if everyone is able to control or manipulate Qi, Dr. Jahnke replied: "Yes everyone is able.... Chi = Qi as in Chinese Qigong. The same as Prana in Indian Yoga. The same as the presence of subtle universal energy as it engages in humans physiologically, emotionally and spiritually. Few actually pursue this capacity. Some possess this skill inherently. Others cultivate it. There are many layers to what you are discussing. The most useful and interesting is the capacity of all human beings to refine this skill. More interesting to some is the capacity to manipulate the Qi of others. This is invasive and disempowering. True it is fun to watch movies where good and evil characters use and abuse this skill. Much more profound is developing the capacity to manage one's own energy to heal and prevent disease and one's emotional energy, a primary kind of Qi, to neutralize exhausting habituations that express as anger and fear." Does practicing Tai Chi help Golf performance? Tai Chi may help with mental calm and focus and be a good way to get a player in the zone before a game, one golf player asked: Considering golf as an 80-90 percent mental game, would practicing Tai Chi before a round help? Dr. Jahnke replied:... "Tai Chi, and Qigong, are focused on acting in accord with nature. In golf, I have been involved and it is mental-emotional for sure, the intention is to coordinate the forces of nature gravity, propulsion, momentum directionality with as little interference from the ego as possible. However, the average player is under the influence of desire, aspiration, the intent to win, the urgency that arises when mistakes are made and more. Thus, having a mindset of less urgency and expectation and more of relaxed acceptance removes the exertion the push, the pull increasing the chance that the urgency of the ego will not impact the natural forces. Tai Chi and Qigong support the player in remembering the power of centered, clear-minded, present moment focused practice using posture, breath and mind. So, YES - doing Tai Chi and mind body practice is a powerful ally for the player! However, instead of doing Tai Chi just before the golf round, to get the maximum benefit, one would do Tai Chi everyday including using Tai Chi principles during the play and while driving a car and while doing daily work. Play Tai Chi consistently to enable your capacity to play Tai Chi Golf. The more important winning is, the more important it is to not care if you win. That’s why it is important to be mindful about your attitude by staying in a harmonious state of mind. Qi and Miracles The capacity to produce a healing resource, an elixir within, is a kind of miracle. To some a miracle is a natural occurrence that we do not yet have the knowledge to understand. George Santayana a modern philosopher noted, ‘Miracles are fortunate accidents, the natural causes of which are too complicated to be readily understood.’ Certainly, the ability to fly would have required a miracle in previous eras of history, now air travel is a common occurrence ...that is readily understood. In the early 21st century, the miracle of selfhealing is almost as clearly understood as well. There is a second view of miracles that point to the supernatural and the divine. Miraculous outcomes credited to God's love and angelic presences are very common throughout history. In a fascinating study of miracles Carolyn Miller, PhD has looked into hundreds of unexplainable situations. In her book, Creating Miracles: Understanding the Experience of Divine Intervention, she concludes that miracles are frequently supernatural events. Miller was able to condense from numerous real cases, a formula for eligibility for a miracle. She calls it miracle mindedness. ‘Inner peace leads to miracles, the decision to shift into a loving, peaceful, accepting mental state is a necessary precondition for miracles, miracles do not produce faith, faith produces miracles.’ In the Book of Luke, in the Christian Bible, Jesus says, ‘Don't be afraid, just believe and she will be healed.’ The formula asks that we be at peace. This, in some way, creates the possibility for a miracle. In our quest to understand selfhealing and the empowering resources that we spontaneously produce within, it is not so necessary to know how miracles work. Dr. Roger Jahnke, OMD Delve deeper into the topic of self-healing and how Qigong can awaken such miracle-like capabilities in a 7-week transformational intensive course with Dr. Roger Jahnke starting Monday, January 11, 2021. He’ll share how you can access these healing Qigong practices any time and use them to neutralize and prevent emotional stressors. In the Qigong as a Natural Elixir to Activate Your Body's Capacity for Self-Healing course, Dr. Jahnke will guide you through the fundamental body-mind-spirit skills and competencies you’ll need to successfully use Qigong to transform your life to lower anxiety, increase your vitality, prevent disease, and more. What are we? Primordial Energetics What are we? Think of it this way, we are only one part substance while we are probably, at minimum, 4 parts non-substance. This means that the senses we use to determine what we are and what we are experiencing are only detecting one of our 5 parts while the senses that we use to determine what we are experiencing are actually unable to detect 4 of our parts.... The aspects of our being include: The body detectable and objectively measurable. Consciousness mind, emotions, intellect not yet quantifiably detectable except as impressions. Local energy ions, magnetic field detectable but not easily, can be felt however, but not objectively measured. Non-local subtle energy quantum not detectable, has no dimensionality. Are quanta able to be quantified? Spirit which is not detectable, physical or measurable. In other words, only 1 of 5 aspects of our being can be detected and measured, while 4 of 5 are, for research and proof purposes, immeasurable. The implications of this are that the only way we can know ourselves is to get comfortable with the fact that radical attentiveness; inner observation and direct experience are the superior pathways to self-knowing and healing.
