Good morning. Today is November 12, Thursday 2020. Today we will read Genesis chapter 5 and let’s focus on Genesis 5:1-3; This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. Lines of descent fr...om an ancestor written from a book. Adam started his family with a son when Abel was killed and Cain was driven away. And here Adam is pictured specifically having a son in his own likeness, after his image. Isn’t this what God said when they made man? Adam was procreating. Men were procreating. This is chapter 5. About ten generations are included in this very short chapter. This is just before the flood in chapter 6. So in our journey which happens to be in Genesis chapter 5, you are now reminded that about 1700 years after creation and before the flood is in this chapter. Wow! And do you know the long-lifer here? That’s right, Methuselah, 969 years and he died. And do you the meaning of his name? After me judgment. Good morning. It’s November 11, Wednesday 2020. Our reading today is Genesis chapter 4. Murder. Have you noticed that the first sin in Genesis chapter 3 you may say was only disobedience. However the biblical narrative seems not to say only disobedience because it was followed with murder. Our key text is Genesis 4:8; Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. The ...sin of their parents to disobey the Lord was followed by the sin of murder by their son. There should be no mistake in our minds that disobedience to God’s explicit command would result into something much graver if we don’t realize its sinfulness. This story of the two brothers brings up some questions in our minds. For one, who taught Cain to murder his brother Abel? Remember, it was the first murder. And what was the result? Death. Do you recall what the serpent said to the woman? You will not surely die, but now she surely witnessed death. I don’t know how devastating to Adam and Eve to see their son dead and how many evenings that they missed sleep thinking of the death of their son. Brethren sin is always sin no matter how insignificant it may appear to us, and its consequence will always degenerate more and much heavier than before. Let us all pray that God will give us the sensitivity to know disobedience and its terrible consequences. See more

Good morning. It’s November 10, Tuesday 2020. Disobedience. What’s this in Genesis 3? From a perfect world that was very good, we would expect another good story, but it was not so. Were it not that Adam and Eve were supposed to live happily ever after? What’s in this? The perfect harmony was gone. Our text for consideration is Genesis 3:6; So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, s...he took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Isn’t it strange that Eve, by just looking at the fruit of the tree that was forbidden by God to be eaten, concluded thus? Good for food, pleasant to the eyes, and make one wise, was only true of that one tree? What about the fruit of the other trees? Folks that the real reason of disobedience. Something is better out there and God is holding it away from us. There’s a better life out there compared to the life in here. Empty here, full there Exciting there, boring here Resultdisobey. Nothing could be more wrong. And by the way, after our first parents disobeyed, God started to look for them. And this is where true obedience begin, when we realize and know that God is looking for us. Come to think deeply about it. True obedience only happens when God finds usnot obedience first, then we find God. Amazing God! Amazing truth! See more

Good morning. It’s November 9, Monday 2020. Divine institutions. We’re now in Genesis 2. This chapter mentions three divine institution that Jesus Christ established at creation. One, the Sabbath. Two, Marriage. Three, Stewardship. A closer look at these three institutions at creation has an underlying, very important element. These are all bound in a single wordrelationship. Without the right kind of relationship, the Sabbath loses its meaning. Without a relationship to a... creator God, Sabbath can just be anytime, anything. Two, marriage and family will lose its essence without a right relationship between husband and wife and Jesus, the Creator, at the center. It is not possible then for marriage to happen between man and man or woman and woman, or anything. Three, Creator-creature relationship results in a right stewardship of man to time, the highest expression of which is the Sabbath, stewardship of place, that is expressed in the care of nature and all creation in general. Our text for reflection are the following; Genesis 2:2-3, 15,18; And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. ;Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. ;It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.
