Nico & Lola: Kindness Shared Between a Boy and a Dog, by Meggan Hill, photographs by Susan Graunke, published by Harper, and read for you by Ms. Tamara - need more be said . . . just that, this is one of Ms. Sue's all-time favorite teaching tools for cultivating compassion in our children, and in ourselves.

The library’s YA Book Group is reading This Place: 150 Years of History Retold, by Alicia Elliot, and discussing it via Zoom on Thursday, April 15, at 6:00. Thanks to Yavanna Reynolds for this info: I have never liked the phrase, History is written by the victors.... Alicia Elliot states as this book begins ...just because stories are unwritten for a time doesn’t mean they’ll be unwritten forever... This Place is a collection of untold indigenous stories, retelling... moments of North American history from the last 150 years from a point of view that rarely gets the spotlight. Powerfully written and illustrated, these stories tell of a world lost because as Alicia points out ...as indigenous people, we all live in a post apocalyptic world. The world as we knew it ended the moment colonialism started to creep across these lands.
