The smell of my grandparent’s house triggers a lot of strong memories. I used to sleep over there a lot when I was younger so now whenever I go there I remember pieces of my childhood. It reminds of being a kid, of being innocent. They live on a golf course, so when I’d go over I’d hit balls over the fence or they’d take me swimming. On nights where I’d sleep over we’d watch movies and stay up till 1am and I thought that was so late.

It’s a unique experience to talk to a stranger because the barriers you usually have with people that you know don’t exist. When you know someone, you have this image you’re trying to present to them. But when you’re talking to a stranger, you can be anyone you want. You don’t have to worry about conforming to the person people see you as. It’s liberating; you just exist without having to adhere to any expectations.

I'd be a strong role model as a teacher because I have a lot of empathy and care for people. I want to be able to share that in the world, especially today. People need to see the good in themselves, and they need to see that there is good in others. The younger kids are so loving, so forgiving. If we start them young, we can start a generation that’s great. It encourages me that that is such a big responsibility, to have the task of guiding the next generation to be good and caring people. It gives me an inner fire that I need to be the best person I can be, that I always need to be my best self for those looking to me as an example.

It’s definitely a big adjustment coming in to LMU as a junior. The classes are a lot harder, especially as an accounting major coming in to upper divisions. Socially, things have gone well the people are really friendly here, definitely more so than back home and especially more than at community college. It feels a lot more like a community here, I feel more connected
