It was a SUPER BUSY day on Friday so we weren’t able to get a whole bunch of pictures, but our low-cost spay, neuter, vaccine and microchip clinic was a HUGE success! 56 cats and dogs spayed and neutered, 88 microchips done and almost 300 animals vaccinated!!! Thank you to all the Imperial Valley pet parents out there who participated and helped make this clinic a success! Thank you to the City of El Centro for happily working with us to get this clinic up and going! Finally, thank you to Animal Action League for always partnering up with us to provide these much needed services to our four-legged community members. Thank you everyone! Great teamwork! #SpayAndNeuter #Teamwork #HighFive

It’s that time of the year again - kitten season! As you all know, our shelter heavily relies on the support from our community to be able to help ALL the homeless fur-kids that come into our care. Recently we have received numerous calls from community members who have found orphaned kittens or have a mama cat with babies that need proper placement. We are doing everything in our power to accommodate each case, but we need YOUR help! We are currently looking for fosters for ...orphaned kittens and moms with kittens. Kitten ages range anywhere from 1 day old to 10 weeks old, and the fostering process could range anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. The shelter is able to provide fosters with all necessary food and supplies, or fosters can purchase food and supplies themselves and use it as a tax write off. Just please make sure to ask us for a donation receipt! Whether you’re an experienced foster or fostering for the first time (don’t worry, we’ll walk you through it), there is no greater feeling than a home full of kitty cat love and sandpaper kisses! Not only is fostering an exciting and very rewarding experience, but it saves lives. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a foster through our shelter, please email or call our office during business hours. Thank you and please share!

PET OF THE WEEK NAME: Lemon ID#: C20-0409 AGE: 6 months... SEX: Female, spayed BREED: Siamese COLOR: Torti-Point WEIGHT: 6 pounds Lemon came into our care in mid-December of last year. She was turned in to us by a Good Samaritan who found her at the El Centro PAL. As soon as she came into our care, we immediately rushed her to our veterinarian in Mexicali as she was very sick Lemon spent several weeks hospitalized as the doctor tried to save her eyes. Unfortunately, the infection was so severe that her eyes would not heal and the doctor had to remove them. Almost immediately after her eyes had been removed, Lemon became a new kitty and was acting as though nothing ever happened! They were making her so uncomfortable that her awesome personality wasn’t able to shine through. After coming back from our vet, Lemon went straight into a foster home. Her foster mom says that she is the most awesome foster she has ever had! She loves kids, she does well with other animals (both cats and dogs) and she is extremely loving and friendly! Her foster mom says although she is blind, she is very curious, likes to explore and she is litter box trained. Lemon loves to be held and loved on and likes to play Barbie Play House with her two human foster sisters! As you can see, Lemon has not allowed her impairment to negatively affect her life in any way. If you would like to set up an appointment for a meet and greet with Lemon, please call the shelter during our business hours, or email us at [email protected]. Due to COVID-19, meet and greets are by appointment only. Lemon’s adoption fee is $80. Adoption benefits include: - Up-to-date on vaccinations - FeLV, FIV & Heartworm tested - Spay/Neuter - Microchipping - One FREE wellness check with local veterinarian. 1575 W. Good morning Everyone! Lately, we have received LOTS of phone calls and emails from community members wanting to come into the shelter to see the cats and dogs that we have available for adoption. For those who are interested in viewing all the animals that we have available for adoption, we ask that you please view them using our AdoptaPet.com links below Cats & Kittens: https://www.adoptapet.com/shelter86128-cats.html Dogs & Puppies: https://www.adoptapet.com/shelter86128-dogs.html If you see a cat or dog that you are interested in adopting and would like to set up a meet and greet, please EMAIL us at [email protected] or CALL the shelter during our business hours at 760-352-1911. UPDATE on little senior tumor girl, now Lolita. After Lolita had some time recuperate from her surgery in a foster home, we felt that it was best to get this little senior lady into the loving hands of a rescue who’s expertise is senior pets. For those who do not know, Lionel's Legacy is one of the many entrusted rescue groups that we partner with that specializes in caring for senior pets. As soon as she was in their care she was immediately placed into a foster home and as you can see, she is comfy and loving her new life! A very special THANK YOU to everyone who shared her story, sent her TONS of love, donated towards her care and helped us get her the second chance at the happy life that she deserved!

ID#: 21-0100 AGE: 1 years SEX: Female BREED: Boxer mix COLOR: Tan WEIGHT: 35 pounds Marley came into our care earlier last week as an owner surrender. Her previous owner explained to us that they had to surrender her because they no longer were able to care for her. Since coming to the shelter, Marley has been a bit shy. As she is adjusting to the shelter life we have come to learn that she does very well with other dogs and she does not seem to mind cats. She has done well with all of our staff members and she has had an opportunity to meet one of our employee’s two young children and she did great with them! Although we are still getting to know her and her getting to know us, we do know that Marley is a very sweet girl and very much deserves to find a new loving furever home that will show her all the love in the world. If you would like to set up an appointment for a meet and greet with Marley, please call the shelter during our business hours or email us at [email protected]. Due to COVID-19, meet and greets are by appointment only. Marley’s adoption fee is $120. Our team would like to say THANK YOU to the National Association of Letter Carriers branch 1726 (El Centro Post office) for collecting literally a TRUCK LOAD of food and cleaning supplies for the animals in our care! Some of the letter carriers are very familiar with T-Rex (tripod doggy) and his story, so they wanted to make sure that all his friends in the shelter have plenty to go around. *** ADOPTED 12-22-20 *** PET OF THE WEEK NAME: Desi... ID#: 20-0897 AGE: 9 months SEX: Female, spayed BREED: Pitty/Basset mix COLOR: Tan & Black WEIGHT: 30 pounds Desi came into our care early last week as an owner surrender. Her family was no longer able to care for her and they asked us to take her in and find her a new-loving family. Desi is a bit shy at first, but we think that is because she is still adjusting to the shelter. After some talking to and petting, she warms right up with a wagging tail. Desi is currently kenneled with other dogs around her size and she is doing amazingly well with them. We have introduced her to dogs who are smaller than her, bigger than her and cats and she does well with everyone! She enjoys being indoors around people, and as you can tell she loves to be on a warm-cozy bed. Desi is a very sweet little girl and we are hoping she can kind her happily furever after in time for the Pawlidays. If you would like to set up an appointment for a meet and greet with Desi, please call the shelter during our business hours, or email us at [email protected].
