Nice cover design. Important topic.
For inspiration, I often peruse through The Book Cover Archive, a trove of hundreds, maybe over a thousand of beautiful categorized cover designs. You don't need to be a designer to appreciate this. http://bookcoverarchive.com
Cubs logo from 1908, the last time they won the WS. That bear looks like he's up to no good.
Curious/interesting presidential campaign posters from elections past. Not a lot of inspiring design in this cycle's election, which isn't entirely surprising. http://www.theatlantic.com//200-years-of-stunning-/258044/
Keyboard designers of today: take note.
Interesting video on how Google is collaborating with Monotype to create a universal font of varying weights that works for all languages no matter how obscure (Cherokee, Tibetan, etc) and across all devices, and preserving dying languages in the process.
"Compared with those who did not read books, those who read for up to three and a half hours a week were 17 percent less likely to die over 12 years of follow-up, and those who read more than that were 23 percent less likely to die. Book readers lived an average of almost two years longer than those who did not read at all."
The BookBar in Denver is half bookstore, half wine bar. Do we have something like this in the Bay Area? Such a great concept.
Approved cover we designed for New World Library. I posted another version of this cover on 7/27, but they chose this option instead. I think the quieter imagery and colors are more appropriate and made this the stronger option.
Congratulations to John and Judy Mayfield, whose book Body Intelligence is now published and on sale on Amazon. We did the interior layout and ebook conversion, and also read various passages of the text throughout the process. Lots of wisdom here about living a purposeful, integrated life, and it's now on my reading list.
Ryan Holiday on the writing and publishing process. I love how at the end he holds his book like a treasured object and says it's one of the coolest feelings ever to see his book for the first time. From the designer perspective, when I first receive copies of books I've designed, that little rush never goes away.
