We concur with @NLIHC’s statement on Biden's COVID Relief package. Extending the CDC's ban on evictions, providing $30 billion in rental assistance and $5 billion tackling #homelessness are great starts but more is required to match the scale of need.

Now that the dust is settling from #Election2020, the top order of business has to be a #stimulus package with dedicated funding for housing. Concurrent crises have increased the chances of a wave of evictions.

Statement on the November 2020 election results The following statement can be attributed to Lisa Hershey, Executive Director: This year’s election results underscore what we’ve known all along--Californians want affordable homes, health and prosperity for all. That’s why they voted for champions in the White House, in Sacramento and for policies that reflect our values throughout our communities. Look no further than with the passage of initiatives like Measure J in Los Ang...eles, diverting nearly $1 billion from law enforcement and the legal system to instead re-imagine criminal justice while dedicating significant investment towards affordable/supportive housing and rental assistance. Now it’s up to us to implement the change Californians seek. In 2021, we will work with legislators and stakeholders in Sacramento to help renters struggling the most to stay in their homes, build affordable homes for all who wish to make their place in the Golden State and end homelessness. We will also unveil the Roadmap HOME 2030, a comprehensive framework of bold, evidence-based measures to turn those goals into reality. While Proposition 15 remains too close to call, it’s clear that affordable homes for all remain among the top priorities of votersand we will meet this moment. # # #

The results on #Prop21 are not what we nor California’s renters hoped for, but one thing is clear: we need more action to help renters and their families afford a roof over their heads, especially during shelter in place. Poll after poll has shown affordable homes to be among Californians' top priorities.
