Encompass Ministries 4th Annual Thanksgiving meal took place on Thursday. Thanks to donated space from Christ the Good Shepherd Church, and the labor and donations of many volunteers, we were able to serve nearly 80 people, most of whom were living in the streets, in shelters, in their cars or in low income housing.

God's Work Our Hands Sunday Thank you to everyone who helped out on Sunday, September 8th including Pastor Jim Clark-Moore, Laura Clark-Moore, Lois Scheaffer, Alice Siah, Bente Ellis, Kerry Buchholz, Colette Krinock and everyone who brought donations of items, or food. We bagged a bunch of meat sandwich lunches, and some additional peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (In case you are curious, Lois makes a delicious sandwich.) The few sandwiches that were left at the end of... the day, were given to someone at City Team Ministries. We also bagged some band aid kits and some Q-tip/cotton pad kits. Some feminine care products were brought in as a kit also. Toothbrushes, soap, razors and facial tissue packets were all separated into single packages. Some things were sorted and put with like items. Then we all enjoyed some salads and a bit of left over sandwich items. Many people helped me load my car at church, at City Team Ministries and Alice Siah helped me bring everything back to church at the end of the day. We were setting up at a new place that week, due to the Ranch Town Recycling center deciding to close on Sundays. Pastor Jim found us a new location, at City Team Ministries on 13th Street in San Jose. The Dignity on Wheels shower truck is there from 1 to 5 PM every Sunday. When I parked on the road and scouted out where to place our table preferably in the shade, I was told to pull into the City Team parking lot and put our table in the parking lot. This is what we did. There was a man there who was serving specialty coffee drinks from his coffee cart until about 3 PM. I am told he comes to this location regularly, when he does not have a booked gig. So, feel free to come and visit us at City Team Ministries on the Sunday’s we are setting up there and grab a specialty coffee, tea or hot chocolate. We had about 30 people that we served. The lunches were appreciated, as was all the other items. I was amazed at how quickly the reading glasses disappeared. One guy put a pair on and started reading a few personal care item bottles. Katie Scott’s hats are always appreciated. Thank you again to everyone who helped lead a table, brought donations, helped set up the night before, helped cleanup, helped load my car, or visited us at City Team Ministries. It was a group effort. Cindy McCullough
