Today, we celebrate Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran (PO ‘69 and CGU ‘77), a leading proponent behind establishing the Claremont Colleges’ Black Studies Center (BSC). Eileen recalls her involvement in conceptualizing the Center, describes student activism during the Anti-war and Civil Rights Movements, and reflects on the successes and challenges of the Black Student Union in a 2019 interview with Elizabeth Carleton (SCR ‘21). Eileen continues her work in higher education, in promoting... equity and inclusion, and serves her alma mater, Pomona College, as a trustee.
