Sacramento Services Not Sweeps Coalition stands in solidarity with the current local, nationwide, and global protests and political unrest. The murders of Georg...e Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Stephon Clark, and countless others lies in the hands of the white supremacist policies, systems, organizations, and individuals that actively work to suppress Black and Brown people. Throughout the history of the United States, Black Americans have continued to be disenfranchised by the systems of oppression built for and by oppressors. Mr. Floyd’s death is no different. It is by design that homelessness in the Sacramento Region disproportionately impacts our Black and Brown communities. As millions of Americans continue to exercise their first amendment right to protest amidst the looming pandemic, we will continue to advocate for the liberty of our unhoused community and work to dismantle the systems that allow homelessness to occur.

The next couple of weeks for COVID-19 will be critical for everyone, but especially people experiencing homelessness: most are still unhoused, lack sanitation, and are still being forced to move around by local law enforcement - against CDC guidelines. We need your help to ensure our homeless neighbors are housed during this pandemic. Would you consider taking a moment to submit a public comment? The Sacramento County - Government Board of Supervisors will meet at 10 am, and ...City of Sacramento, Government City Council will meet at 5 pm. BOS: http://www.agendanet.saccounty.net/sirepub/mtgviewer.aspx City Council: https://sacramento.granicusideas.com//3660-5p/agenda_items Something as simple as: Our neighbors experiencing homelessness need you to act today to: Expand shelter and housing options for people experiencing homelessness; Immediately open bathrooms in City and County parks on a 24/7 basis and staff them with attendants, creating a Homeless Sanitation Employment Program; Immediate Moratorium on Sweeps of Encampments by County Park Rangers, SPD and other Law Enforcement Agencies [for example CalTrans] Immediately Implement the CDC Encampment Guidelines I urge you to take immediate and compassionate action. Thank you, [Your Name]

Our office has closed due to the stay at home and social distancing order. We have suspended the vendor program and hope 2020 vendors will get in touch with us so we can make a bit of amends. But there are over 4,000 people in our community that can't stay in their homes, but maybe in their tents. As the streets have been deserted by housed, the unhoused have been left out in more ways than just physically. Water and food is scarcer (Housed people, quit buying up the water! You got water! Public water has been turned off and closed up). We just came out with a Special Issue for the unsheltered readership, mostly, to help assure they have basic information on this pandemic we are under. https://sacshoc.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/hw24-3se-3.pdf
