Happy Divine Mercy Sunday! In today's Gospel for Divine Mercy Sunday, we hear of doubting Thomas and his failure to believe. Jesus challenges him (and us!) to believe and have faith, even without seeing or in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Jesus said to him, Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed. - John 20:29

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (Jn 14:13) Veterans’ Day is celebrated every year on November 11th and is dedicated to American veterans of all wars. Originally this day was known as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of hostilities in World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. In 1954 Congress changed the day’s name and purpose to Veterans Day. Amen, I say to you: Whatever you did for one of... these least of my brethren, you did for me, says the Lord. (Mt 25:40) On this day, we remember and thank all veterans, those serving and those retired and discharged, for their service to protect our country and our freedoms. And as we remember their sacrifices, pray for peace in our world and that God, our loving Father, will protect them as meditate on these verses from the 23rd Psalm: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and your staff they comfort me. (Ps23:1-4) Meditation by Deacon Jim Hopp

Lord God, as the election approaches, we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our city/state/country, and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community. We ask for eyes that are free from blindness so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters, one and equal in dignity, especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit and poverty. We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and tho...se abandoned, Men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender. We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to your Kingdom. We pray for discernment so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word, live your love, and keep in the ways of your truth as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles and guide us to your Kingdom of justice and peace. We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. #electionday

I am the Resurrection and the Life, says the Lord. Whoever believes in me, even though he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will not die for ever. (Jn 11:25-26) Each year on November 2nd we celebrate the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, or All Soul’s Day. This a day when we remember and pray for all who have died, trusting that God will hear and answer our prayers that they will know eternal light, happiness, and peace. In Mexico, the Day ...of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) is a time of praying for our ancestors, remembering and celebrating them and making friends with death. As we remember our loved ones who have gone before us on this day, we pray May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. We may also wish to offer this beautiful prayer from the Order of Christian Funerals In Paradisum May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs come and welcome you and take you to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem. May the choirs of angels welcome you and lead you to the bosom of Abraham; and when Lazarus is poor no longer may you find eternal rest. Reflection by Deacon Jim Hopp

Join us Tuesday, November 3 for a day of prayer for our nation. On Election Day, Catholic Churches across the country are opening their doors for Eucharistic Adoration. We are joining this effort to bring healing, hope, and prayer to our nation through our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Let us all rejoice in the Lord, as we celebrate the feast day in honor of all the Saints, at whose festival the Angels rejoice and praise the Son of God. - Entrance Antiphon, Mass for All Saints... November 1st is the Solemnity of All Saints in the Catholic Church. It is a day when we honor all the saints, those who have finished their earthly journey and now rest in and rejoice in God’s presence. We honor the Saints who are known to the world like Popes St. John XXIII and St. John Paul II, St. Theresa of Calcutta (Mother Theresa), Saints Peter and Paul, St. Joseph and all the others. We also honor the humble saints, those whose names are known to only a few or to none our parents and grandparents, our ancestors, teachers and friends who lived their faith to the full and inspired the faith in others. This is a day to celebrate them all. So, we pray: Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven. - Communion Antiphon, Mass for All Saints
