TRADITION: CHALKING THE DOOR 20+C+M+B+21 In this time of uncertainty, what a beautiful and fitting tradition of inviting God into our homes and placing our loved ones into His trusting hands. A traditional way of doing this is to use blessed chalk to write 20+C+M+B+21 above the home’s entrance. It can also be written somewhere inside the home.... The letters C, M, B have two meanings: They are the initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin words Christus Mansionem Benedicat, May Christ bless this house. The + signs represent the cross and 20 21 is the year. Learn more about it on the video below. God bless! https://youtu.be/j9ocph4JFD0

All Souls Day November 2 is All Souls Day, a solemn celebration commemorating all of those who have died and are now in Purgatory. On this day, we not only remember the dead, but we apply our efforts, through prayer, almsgiving, and the Mass, to their release from Purgatory. There are two plenary indulgences attached to All Souls Day, one for visiting a church, and another for visiting a cemetery. While the actions are performed by the living, the merits of the indulgences ar...e applicable only to the souls in Purgatory. Since a plenary indulgence removes all of the temporal punishment for sin, which is the reason why souls are in Purgatory in the first place, applying a plenary indulgence to one of the Holy Souls in Purgatory means that the Holy Soul is released from Purgatory and enters Heaven. To obtain a Plenary Indulgence, you must visit a church, recite one Our Father, and the Creed, receive Communion, and pray one additional Our Father and one Hail Mary for the intentions of the Holy Father. The final requirement is that you take part in the Sacrament of Confession, which can be done up to 7 days before or afterward.

All Saints Day The Solemnity of All Saints is November 1 and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Also known as the Feast of All Saints, on this day, we honor the saints who have been recognized by the Church, as well as all of the faithful known only to God, and ask for their prayers and intercessions.... The message of All Saints' Day is the reminder of how we should live. Pope Francis describes this way of life: The Saints are not supermen, nor were they born perfect. They are like us, like each one of us. They are people who, before reaching the glory of heaven, lived normal lives with joys and sorrows, struggles and hopes. What changes their lives? When they recognized God’s love, they followed it with all their heart without reserve or hypocrisy. They spent their lives serving others, they endured suffering and adversity without hatred and responded to evil with good, spreading joy and peace. This is the life of a Saint. This is what the Saints did and they accompany us, encourage us to go forward and inspire us to lives of virtue and holiness.

Remembrance Envelopes... are in your contribution packets or are available in the Parish Office. You may write the names of your deceased loved ones on the envelope and return it to the parish office. Our priests will pray for your loved ones during Masses in November. Throughout November, the church prays for all who are in Purgatory waiting for the day when they will join the company of the saints in heaven. The celebration of Mass is the highest means the Church can provi...de for charity for the dead, but we can also relieve their suffering through our prayers. After these souls in are in heaven, they will intercede for us. A good prayer to recite during the month of November: Eternal rest grant to them, Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
