Last week I talked a little about how I've dealt with anger, hurts, hang ups and resentment. It is not always an easy task taking the high road and I definitely don't always succeed. These past few weeks I've been dealing with "my flesh" and wanting to deal with things my way, "get people back," or overall just being overburdened by negativity. While my heart wants to be forgiving and show grace sometimes I make the wrong choice. I had to remind myself that choosing to walk... with Christ is a choice I have to make daily, and that the flesh is weak and I need more of Him to stay strong. What you feed is what will grow, so I have to stop feeding into the drama and instead feed my spirit. Spend intentional time reading the Bible, intentional time praying and intentional time focused on the positive. I'm sharing with you to say that if your struggling with something, don't beat yourself up. In areas where you are weak, allow God to be your strength. Today my prayer was simple. Lord, I want to forgive and move past the hurt, but I'm weak and need your help to take the next step. I'll continue this prayer until it's done. Need a song for your meditation? I just wanted to say how much I love you guys! The support that I have received after starting this cookie journey this year has been more than I could have imagined! I appreciate this opportunity to share not only in treats but for those who follow along, a weekly bite sized word. I figured we could talk more about ghosts to keep in line with this season...not the one that goes BOO in the night though, but the Holy Ghost...aka the Holy Spirit. Growing up in church as a chil...d, I had so much confusion around what it meant to have the Holy Ghost or be filled with the holy spirit. I grew up in a pentecostal church so people would speak in tongues & dance around and we called that being "filled with the Holy Ghost" but I never felt like I had a clear cut understanding of what having his spirit with us on a day to day basis meant. I thought if you didn't speak in tongues it meant you didn't have the Holy Spirit or that you weren't "saved enough". It's a terrible feeling to have so I'm happy that through the years I have learned that there isn't these strict boxes you have to check to be "saved enough" and that my walk with Christ is a journey not a destination. He promised to send his Holy Sprit to us, but it comes in many forms NOT just in speaking tongues and dancing. The Holy Spirit can be felt as a presence of peace and comfort, it guides us to the truth and gives us wisdom, convicts us when needed, and much more. My prayer today is that you will be encouraged knowing you are not alone in this journey and that his Sprit will fill you and guide you. That if you are like I once was, confused about salvation, that you know that so long as you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that you are SAVED. Determined is the word of the week!!! You guys, I recently got my biggest order yet! 300+ cookies with just a little over a weeks notice! It was for a great cause so I was excited to be a part. October is Pastor Appreciation Month and so I got the opportunity to make 50+ cookie packages for the campus pastor's at the @therocksandiego campuses. I'm so grateful for the work all of those on ministerial teams do and the time they have dedicated to bringing people to Christ.... "Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding." Jeremiah 3:15

It's #worshipwednesday and I can't get this song by @joshbaldwin out of my head!!! When I truly look at my life I can see God's hands all over it. His protection, His grace, His love and His peace when everything around me can be so chaotic at times. No matter what things may look like for you right now, I encourage you to look for the evidence of his presence in your life. When we take a minute to observe we can see His goodness in so many daily things.

This week I heard an amazing word (I wish I could remember where so I could link it) about our walk with Christ, I'll try to summarize because I was so blessed by what I heard. In the book of Matthew you'll find the story of Peter stepping out the boat to walk on water. He begins to sink, gets scared and cries out and Jesus calls out his lack of faith. Is it possible that since Peter was walking with Jesus he expected his walk to go smoothly? Why was he caught off guard by ...the storm? Walking with Jesus doesn't mean our walk or road will always be easy! We can't think Jesus abandoned us everytime life throws us a curve ball. He will get us to the ultimate destination and protect us as we go but life will continue to have the ups and downs and we have to trust in him through them all. The question then is how do you do that? Are you equipped with who God says you are? Are you in the word studying up on his promises and praying regarding the plans and purposes he has for your life. When the battles come are you ready to fight? And what does fighting look like? The Bible says "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:14 Go to the Lord with your concerns in prayer. Prayer doesn't have to be elaborate or fancy. I talk to God on my drive to work literally like I might be talking to a friend in the passenger seat. Or in the shower, or a spare minute of the day. He will fight our battles for us! When things get rocky don't lose faith thinking he forgot about you, pray to him and trust that He will see you through. Birthday cookies are so fun! I love mixing in someone's favorite color or party theme and these cookie cakes continue to be my favorite, probably because I can't decorate real cakes no matter how hard I try.
