It is indeed a strange time in the world, the USA, California and our communities. This virus has connected us altogether as one- no longer separate entities. It has created panic in our streets, crisis in our economy and death in our hospitals. Our knowledge of this virus is limited so the unknown can cause extreme anxiety. I’ve lived through this before in San Diego during the AIDS epidemic. While this pandemic has cast a cloud in our world I have seen some silver linings t...o the cloud. Two weeks ago during the height of this panic I talked with my staff as to what we were up against and how we were going to respond. Their response has been incredible- when the going got tough the tough got going! The people in our community have been incredible. We have received masks from paint companies, churches, and other doctors not on the front line. We have had desserts brought for the staff by patients in support of our work. It is because of this support within our community that I know we will get through this. People have asked if I’m afraid and my answer is no! In my years of work I have always felt God’s presence with me and I know he has protected me many times! This world will be in a better place once this crisis has passed.
