Great thanks to our volunteers who helped pack and deliver more than 100 bags of food to people in Los Angeles today. We don't know if food bank will open up it's warehouse again this week so we can order and replenish this pantry. We pray God guide us through this time of uncertainty.

Dear Church Communities, God's Grace and Mercy to you. Worship service cancelled March 15 and 22. Health practices and strategies in response to COVID-19 are progressing rapidly. The best way to protect our neighbor’s health and our ability to treat severe cases is to limit travel and gathering socially. The Governor asked for people who are in high risk populations to limit their gathering to fewer than 10 people, if they have to gather at all. Some of these high risk catego...ries are people older than 60, people who are pregnant, people with cancer or recent cancer treatment, people with high blood pressure, and people with diabetes. Yesterday, Bishop Erwin sent out a joint statement with Bishop Taylor sharing their belief that cancelling worship for March 15 and 22 comes first to keep our communities healthy. They gave other options, but they all expose us to higher risk. I agree whole-heartedly with their recommendations and for that reason the church council and I are making the following plans. 1) We have cancelled in-person church services on March 15 + 22. We have not cancelled further out at this point, but we will watch information and instructions coming into us by the state, county, and synod, and the council will discern together with each up date. 2) We have cancelled our lenten services on Thursday nights until further notice. 3) The food bank will remain open to ensure the community, especially children who are staying home from school, have sufficient food. We will adapt by having a small group of volunteers come together to pack bags and distribute in a more streamlined manner. If you are able to volunteer Wednesdays at 9am, please message our page. 4) On Sunday at 1:00PM, we will have a digital worship service. After we will check in together to see how everyone is. 5) We will post each Sundays bulletin on our website and email it out if people wish to go through the bulletin at home. Thank you. God's peace, mercy, and grace Hollywood Lutheran Church takes our community's health very seriously and have heard everyone’s concerns with COVID-19. Because of this, we are cancelling our midweek Lenten services until further notice. We ask our community to understand that our cancelling is not panic COVID-19 since in large most people recover well. However, it is our shared responsibility to ensure that our medical organizations and hospitals are able to respond to the number of people who are becoming ill. By reducing unnecessary gathering, we are making sure that hospitals have enough capacity to handle all the more serious cases. Be well. Have peace.
