THE YOUNG MESSIAH OPENS MARCH 11TH I want to bring to your attention an extraordinary film that is opening in just a few days, THE YOUNG MESSIAH. I had the hono...r of working on this film for nearly 3 years with Cyrus Nowrasteh, the director (The Stoning of Soraya M.), and his co-writer, Betsy Griffin Nowrasteh, as they prepared the film. We workshopped the entire project here in LA over a period of four months prior to beginning production in Italy. But the most joy and the most challenging job I had was as acting coach to the children, especially young Adam Greaves-Neal who plays Jesus at the age of seven. And yes, we used The Travis Technique and even developed some new techniques especially for the children. I have seen the film several times and must admit that I am proud to be associated with this project in any way. And now it's time to share it with you and the rest of the world. You all know how important the first weekend is for an independent film like this. So I encourage you all to gather your friends and see The Young Messiah on the weekend of March 11th. I thought so 30 years ago when he directed this play the first time, but I've got a LOT of experience under my belt now, and I think it even more fervently. I wrote my first book (The Director's Journey) back in 1996. Then I wrote the Second Edition of it and gave it a new name, Directing Feature Films which came ou...t in 2002. And even though it is being used in many film schools, and it has been reviewed many times, and I frequently hear from some unknown filmmaker in some remote country about how Directing Feature Films has changed or ignited his/her career ... I really didn't expect for the book to be reviewed once again.
