Well, we officially sold our house amidst a pandemic! We don’t know exactly where we will be living next month but we do know God has a plan and we are excited to see where He has us next. We are looking for another home in Modesto but haven’t found the right one yet. These last couple months have been wild. From most of our days figuring out this distance learning thing to baking a whole lot more desserts than we probably needed. There has been bickering and tears but al...so a whole lot of joy and laughter in unexpected places. We’ve got to have a whole lot more conversations about things that truly matter and it has felt as though we got a second chance to reevaluate how we want our family to look in this crazy world we live in. Over and over I felt the Lord tell me to show them how to live with courage and how to be faithful in the midst of big transition and big unknown. He has also taught me that everything will pass away except His word. Even when we don’t like our circumstances He is there giving us all we ever need. They have had a lot of questions! But as we have always honestly answered their questions I have seen them blossom and it is amazing to watch their hearts become bold and brave in the midst of such unknown. We have prayed together a whole lot more. We have snuggled a whole lot more. And Eisley made pancakes all by herself this morning! I’ve learned that over time the faithful mundane is where the richest life is found. We haven’t done everything right but as we fix our eyes on Him as we stumble along, I can see such goodness in this season. @jodyatkinsonphoto came over to take some pictures of us in front of our home that I will cherish always. This home housed us as we raised these babies + our foster son. It gave us a perfect canvas for my husband to gain confidence in renovating. We learned to love each other more deeply here and lay our lives down for one another. It was such a gift and I will treasure so many memories from our 6 years here! Last year I painted my first watercolor egg so my daughters were begging to paint their own this year. Eggs are harder to get our hands on this year so we only did a few and that abstract one in the middle is the one Everly did! I helped her with the colors and she did the rest. I’m telling ya, the more you just go for it, instead of getting all up in your head, the better it will come out. Just try painting like a kid and you’ll have real joy painting! Use thicker paint(le...ss water) because the egg won’t soak up the watery paint like watercolor paper. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! I’m closing the studio after this year! It’s so bittersweet because it has been such a dream come true to have the most beautiful oasis to welcome people into and teach them such beautiful art forms. But, I can’t do it all. No one can! My kids are needing more of my mental energy + discipling and they are my biggest priority in this season. Also my business is shifting and I can reach so many more through online courses. I only have so many hours and my h...ands are in too many pots stirring. And I’ve always said with this business that the hours that take me away from my family have to be worth it and my hours are so limited that something has to go. The studio was for a season and what a blessing it was to me! I have big dreams for it again one day, but for now here is the final schedule for 2019. If there is interest for another calligraphy class before the new year I might add one more, so let me know. I will still be teaching local classes here and there and will still be available for private parties, but just not at my cute little studio any longer. This studio taught me so much and was such a big stepping stone in my business. It helped me become such a better teacher and I am so very grateful. I remember the first time I said no to a certain aspect of my business as it shifted and though it was hard, it launched me into the studio and teaching more. And so I know that as I say no to this, the business will shift just as the Lord wants it to and I’m so excited for what’s to come! Just as an encouragement, if you are feeling like you need to say no or cut back in any aspect of life, don’t be afraid. Driving this thing to the venue was the most stressful part of making this seating chart! Black acrylic is my new favorite! And I’m so grateful to Ashley for trusting me with her amazing vision! From her enchanted forest themed invitations on letterpressed on handmade paper to these black and gold signs, these details were some of the most fun designs I’ve created yet!
