As another monster hurricane barrels across the Gulf Coast, Trump and Republicans in Congress will undoubtedly claim that now is no time to talk about climate c...hange. But if not now, when? The consequences are clear and happening now. Wildfires have torched vast swaths of the West. Hurricanes are growing stronger and more intense. Sea levels continue to rise. Heat waves and droughts are becoming more frequent. The scientific warnings are also clear. According to a United Nations report released this week, time is running out to save the planet. Experts now forecast environmental catastrophe as early as 2040, if we fail to act. Meanwhile, Trump and his merry band climate change deniers, have backed out of the Paris treaty, slashed clean air laws, and silenced scientists within the federal government -- all to line the pockets of their pals in the fossil fuel industry. We must do more than send our thoughts to those in the path of Hurricane Michael. We must vote on November 6th for candidates who will address climate change with the urgency it deserves.
