Congratulations to our Hillcrest debate team on their 2nd place win at the IVDL Championship tournament at Oxford Prep in Chino! The team brought home the trophy in the % of wins (the quality) category. 8 schools & more than 60 teams! We took 6 teams and half our debaters were 6th grade students who did a fantastic job in debating, teamwork and sportsmanship... Top Speakers Gigi Sara and Kareem who took 5th top speaker! Top Hillcrest Team Isabella, Sara and Nish -- closely followed by Santiago Anna, Kareem and Garrison,Jacob and Gigi The picture say it all! Way to go Huskies!

Hillcrest Academy Exploring Mars Presentation tomorrow, Saturday April 30th, at 2pm. Richard Kagawa, a trained Aerospace Engineer and JPL Solar System Ambassador will be presenting the following topics with a PowerPoint presentation and several short movies produced by JPL: -Why NASA is going to Mars, what NASA is looking for, and what we've found so far... -How NASA land rovers on Mars -How today's kids might end up being tomorrow's Martians This event will take place in the MAC and Mr. Kagawa suggests everyone watch The Martian before attending. Great day of learning at the flower fields yesterday

What a great day at Nationals over the weekend. Polytechnic is a beautiful school and the tournament was very well run. Kareem, Nish and Sara were outstanding! They finished with a winning record 3-2 and their 2 losses were definitely open for debate. There were 47 teams from all over Southern CA and Arizona. Highlights of the day:... Our team's final round on a no fly zone in Syria - absolutely phenomenal high school level performance and win.
