MARK YOUR CALENDAR--Sunday Sept 13 at 7 p.m. The Season of Peace runs from September 11th remembering all of those we lost on that day 19 years ago, and working to create a world without any needs for war until the International Day of Peace on September 21st. The Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County is joining The Qirvah Trio to kick off the "Season of Peace" with a special Interfaith Musical Service on Sunday, Sept. 13th at 7:00 pm on the Green at Christ the King Catholic Parish in Pleasant Hill. Also Note: you can watch it online on a livestream on the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County's Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/InterfaithCouncilCCC.

This photo of Hillcrest was taken this morning at 10 a.m. As I write the almost-midday sun is still struggling to make itself known through the smoke and ash. May God, and God's ever-renewing nature, be with us during these difficult times. And may God's strength and care be with all responders, all evacuees, all who are struggling to breathe, and all who have lost lives and livelihoods. Blessings, Rev. Fred

Dear Hillcrest Family and Friends, We do indeed pray for California, and for the Bay Area, and for our county and neighboring counties. We pray for first responders, fire fighters, those who have lost life and property, and all who are affected by these fires. Several of you have been in contact with me from far and near. Know that our immediately surrounding area is thus far not threatened; our campus is safe and continuing to operate according to the protocols set in place ...under current COVID-19 orders. For six days running and for the next three days as per forecasts, our area is suffering with "unhealthy" or, more often, "very unhealthy" air quality. I would urge our local members, friends, and neighbors to use one or both of these East Bay Air Quality Links for up to date information about the air quality: https://www.baaqmd.gov/about-air-qual/interactive-data-maps https://www.airnow.gov Thank you for your concern, for your prayers, and for your support. Blessings, Rev. Fred

One of Hillcrest's own--a grandson of our church, let's put it that way--is in the bigs. Congratulations to James Kaprielian! May he, and all, be healthy and play the game well.
