Today is Reformation Day! By the end of the seventeenth century, many Lutheran churches celebrated a festival commemorating Martin Luther's posting of the Ninet...y-five Theses, a summary of abuses in the church of his time. At the heart of the reform movement was the gospel, the good news that it is by grace through faith that we are justified and set free. (Bread for the Day 2020, p. 415) See more

Our member, Irene Amon, wishes to extend an invitation to join a book club with her Minnesota church. Here are the details: I want to inform you and the church of a book reading that my church in MN (Transfiguration Lutheran Church) will start on November 1, 2020. It's not a regular book club, but a process of healing from trauma. They are considering having it twice a month with some facilitated exercises. The book to be used is "My Grandmother's Hand" by Resmaa Menakem. A...s one of those interested in it, I was asked to share it with friends and family who may be interested too. Hence my reaching out to HAGL. The sessions will be on Sundays at 9am our time which is 11am MN time. Thank you for sharing. Regards, Irene

[Jesus said], ’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandmen...t. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets (Matthew 22:37-40). See more
