A party of 300 kids can bowl, you can go to a closed escape room, but we are still 100% forced closed! Your calls to us asking if we’re open are encouraging, but after 7 months and being THIIIIISSSS close to reopening, we’re losing the battle, Hayward almost certainly. Hayward folks, IF YOU WANT US TO STAY IN HAYWARD, DM us for a list of folks you can contact to put some pressure on to help make that happen. ... To everyone, thank you for your continued support. We’re fighters and you’ve kept us fighting. Please share our fundraising campaign (linked in profile) and our updates far and wide! #savethearcade #Alameda #hayward #eastbay #vintagegames #arcadegames #history #preservation #museum #arcade #gofundme

150 calls this weekend, Is the arcade open, everyone around you is open. No, and we don’t know when or if we will be... 200 days of forced closure $5000 total grants and relief from state of CA... Support from our loyal following is the only reason High Scores Arcade still waits and why our family settled in California... THANK YOU! Please share, or find us on GoFundMe or DonorBox!

Sometimes you need to lose an important part of you to be able to move forward. #2020 is all about being stuck in tough situations! Luckily here, we’re only talking Area 51 being freed from its basement home to join the High Scores collection! When we were only just painting our Park Street location back in 2013, locals would pop their heads in asking about their favorite titles. #Area51 kept coming up, and we learned it was a long-time feature in its mid-90’s heyday down at ...the bowling alley. The contrast to today’s dizzying amount of entertainment options is stunning; it doesn’t matter if you hated this game (no one hates mindlessly shooting, though) or Nintendo’s Popeye or if you sucked at Defender. If that was the only game at your 7-11, that was the game you played. This game joins the collection as a donation from a lovely Alameda couple and was gracefully extricated up one flight of stairs and down another by master game mover and friend of High Scores, TJ Beyer. Thanks to everyone that allows us to keep up our mission of saving games. We CAN’T WAIT to be playing them with you all again! #savethearcade #gooniesneversaydie #classicarcade #stillstanding #KronnHunter

Please don’t keep calling us to ask if you can buy our classic arcade machines cheap or liquidate because you think we’re done. We ain’t dead yet. You don’t know our hustle, our plan or our hearts. High Scores is a treasure - a museum capturing the early history of video games, and the best place in the Bay Area to buy Garbage Pail Kids cards. They make Alameda that much cooler. This pandemic sucks. Hang in there!! We are SO grateful to you amazing folks who have donated to help us get from one month of waiting to the next. The accompanying messages you’ve all left for us are so inspiring and kind! They’ve really reminded us of the community we’ve built within and around our arcades and we’re feeling the love - THANK YOU! #arcade #vintagegames #gofundme

We are super thankful to have the support of the San Francisco Chronicle to share where we are in this struggle! We’ve gotten a lot of questions about if we can reopen this weekend with other businesses - we LOVE your enthusiasm, but unfortunately it’s a longer road ahead for us which the article outlines. Until then, we clean, prepare, and cross our fingers! #pleaseshare #arcade #classicarcade #vintagegaming #eastbay #alameda #hayward #videogames #covid19 #reopening

Our company seriously hurt from the 3 month lockdown, to the point we’re asking for help. But some person still takes the time to carve the sign right off our window that’s been in good shape for 7 years since we opened? Is this categorically a revolutionary act? Looks bad on Park Street...

July 20 - August 31 is the best estimate we’ve received so far on reopening timeline as Alameda County battles high new infection rates. The better side of the estimate has us out of business for a minimum of 5 months and a maximum of 8, barring what we don’t know. THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to help us keep the collection together during this time. Find us on GoFundMe if you’d like to help!

I am BEYOND touched by this gesture, and so grateful for having had the honor to work with every one of you. PLEASE make sure you invest your own money into yourself! It is a big help to spread awareness of our situation, but we are asking for help from within the geographical communities these businesses exist, or from those who want to contribute to the act of arcade preservation in general. We have been responsible savers, highly employable, and we will personally be ok! So please share, but please save your money to invest in YOU! Thanks so much! Love you all, Peace! Shawn
