With the holidays come trees, decorations, and twinkling lights. While these items are beautiful to look at, they can be fire hazards. Here are a few safety tips to remember this holiday season: - Place your tree away from fireplaces, radiators, and other heat sources. Do not block doorways or high-traffic areas. - Water your tree consistently to prevent it from drying out quickly. Trim dry branches as necessary. - Check each set of lights (new and old) for broken or cracked... sockets, frayed or bare wires, or loose connections, and discard the lights that are damaged. - Use no more than three standard-size sets of lights per single extension cord. - Turn off all lights when you go to bed or leave your home to prevent a fire.
