The next project to complete is A-33 in far eastern Johnson Valley. It is now half done and ready for water sealer and fencing. This is what it looked like before work started.
After completing A-61 in Johnson Valley the crew moved on to A-34. That guzzler is now completely rebuilt and full of water, ready to serve wildlife for another 60 years.
A-61 in Johnson Valley is now completely rebuilt better than new with a new 850 gallon tank, refinished apron and fencing.
A-61 Progress Report. Last weekend the work crew from High Desert Quail Forever rebuilt A-61. This guzzler has a new tank, full of water, the apron is repaired ...and the guzzler is once again supporting wildlife in Johnson Valley. This site was destroyed over 20 years ago. Now back in business, better than new. See more
April 2019 Newsletter High Desert Quail Forever Ch 3138 Monthly Meeting is Tuesday, May 21 at 6:30 pm, Apple Valley Gun Club... The next project is A-61 located in Johnson Valley. The project dates are Friday, April 26th and Saturday April 27th. The route to this site requires a high clearance vehicle so if you need a ride to the site we can arrange that. The point of contact is Dave Smith at 760 617 3291. Please give Dave a call and let him know if you are going. This project will be a tank replacement and apron repair for A-61. Wear work clothes and boots in the area and be mindful of snakes. Bring a lunch and plenty of water. Meet in Johnson Valley at Camp Rock Road and Comet at 6:30 on Friday. This is a complete rebuild of a destroyed guzzler just like the guzzlers we did in El Mirage. This site links Soggy Dry Lake to the Fry Mountains and is a critical site for upland wildlife in this area. If you can please make the May meeting in order to discuss future projects.
Our thanks to all who attended our annual fund raiser and dinner a the Mile High in Hesperia on February 9th. We raised over $3,000.00 for habitat and were able to introduce a lot of new folks to our team and our mission. As usual, the Mile High Cafe provided world class food. Thanks again for standing up for wildlife!
Guzzler A-59 in the Cajon Summit restored to better than new condition by High Desert Quail Forever. This long suffering site is now full restored and fully supporting upland wildlife in the Cajon Pass area of Southern California.
Our next major project will be a complete rebuild of guzzler A-66 in Johnson Valley, California. This will involve a tank replacement, complete apron rebuild and finish work to include water sealing, new fencing and signage. As you can see, it is destroyed. But after a couple of days work it will be better than new. To help please hit the donate link to the right. The budget for this project is $2500.00. Thanks for your support.
