Habitat for Humanity International has released five policy solutions aimed at mobilizing public and political will to advocate for anti-racist housing solutions. We must set a goal of closing the Black homeownership gap within a generation. To achieve that goal we must increase access to down payment assistance, increase access to affordable credit, and invest in affordable homeownership. The following is a non-exhaustive list of housing policy solutions that we can all help... push forward to redress the nation’s legacy of discrimination against people of color and especially Black Americans and to help our nation begin to heal. Increase opportunities for Black homeowners Invest in distressed, racially segregated communities Stop perpetuating segregation Invest in affordable rental housing Minimize the damage of COVID-19 on Black households Housing inequality is a primary culprit behind the large racial wealth gap between Black and white households in the U.S. and the time for racial equity is long overdue. #CostofHome https://www.habitat.org//5-policy-solutions-advance-racial
