HERMOSA BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CANCELS LABOR DAY FIESTA HERMOSA DUE TO COVID-19 Fears over the rapidly spreading novel coronavirus outbreak are causing authorities to take extra precautions with mass gatherings and events around the world. As worries over COVID-19 continue to grow, so too does the list of major events and concerts that are being called off. Added to the list is the Labor Day Fiesta Hermosa, originally scheduled for the weekend of September 5-7, 2020.... This is not a decision that the Chamber has taken lightly and we know that the cancellation will come as a huge disappointment especially after having to cancel Memorial Day Fiesta, but we believe it is necessary for the health and safety or our community, according to Maureen Hunt, President/ CEO of the Chamber. She continued, This has hit the Hermosa Beach Chamber extremely hard financially, as this is our prime income for the year. It enables us to support our local businesses, non-profit organizations and produce other major community events throughout the year, such as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Sidewalk Sales, Holiday Tree Lighting event, and the New Year’s Eve celebration. The Chamber understands the gravity of the situation for the vendors who participate in Fiesta Hermosa for their income, and to all the local businesses that rely so heavily upon the event for the increased traffic and sales it brings. The Chamber is hopeful for what 2021 will look like for Fiesta Hermosa and will be reaching out directly to vendors and all participants with further information.

HERMOSA BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CANCELS MEMORIAL DAY FIESTA HERMOSA DUE TO COVID-19 CONCERNS After careful consultation with the City of Hermosa Beach about how to protect public health during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce made the difficult decision to cancel the Memorial Day Fiesta Hermosa, originally scheduled for the weekend of May 23-25, 2020. Due to continuous monitoring of health advisories and recent declarations from the Governor of ...California, the Chamber believes it is the best way to proceed, according to Maureen Hunt, President/ CEO of the Chamber. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our community, but ultimately know it is the right decision regarding the health and safety of the public. Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for Fiesta Hermosa every Memorial Day Weekend and many participants, including local Hermosa Beach businesses and community organizations who rely upon it for income, the Chamber delayed the decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns would lessen by the summer. The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce will be reaching out directly to vendors and all participants with further information. The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce plans to celebrate with a Fiesta later in the year, currently planned for Labor Day Fiesta Hermosa, to be held September 5-7th 2020.

SAFER AT HOME: While going for a walk or bike ride on your own or with members of your household is considered an acceptable activity under Los Angeles County's Safer at Home Order, limiting exposure is the best course of action to take to help slow the spread of COVID-19. If you must go outside it is critical that social distancing practices are observed and we encourage you to find alternative locations to walk or bike to keep traffic down on the Strand.
