Hemet Police Department 22.12.2020

2020 ..... Can't say we are sad to see you go. As we welcome 2021 in, the Hemet Police Department wants to remind you to celebrate responsibly. Please don't drive while impaired. Please don't set off fireworks and worst of all, please don't discharge firearms as means for celebration. These violations can be very costly with fines and depending on the circumstances, D.U.I., possession of/lighting off fireworks and negligent discharge of a firearm can be considered a felony. Don't make the start to 2021 a regrettable one. From all of us at the Hemet Police Department, have a safe and Happy New Years. #HappyNewYear2021 #WhatGoesUpMustComeDown #DontDrinkAndDrive #NoFireworks #HPDFamily

We were in the area of Florida Ave and Ramona St helping out our friends at Hemet Fire Department with traffic control as they extinguished a structure fire . Florida Ave was closed for approximately 1 hour. We appreciated the public’s patience during this brief closure. #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #HPD #HFD

#ROCSRewind -The community of Hemet has recently been overwhelmed by several senseless acts of violence. Hemet PD has heard the literal cries for help from the citizens and will continue to work tirelessly to keep the people within this valley safe. Today members of #ROCS Team attempted to contact a known gang member in the 800 block of W. Florida Avenue. The subject immediately fled on foot upon seeing the police vehicle. As the officer gave chase, the subject reached into ...his waistband and threw a loaded handgun unto the roof of a building. Officers ultimately caught the subject and placed him under arrest #GotEem. A subsequent search of the subject rendered ammunition and illegal narcotics #DrugsAreBad. HPD is proud to announce this handgun will not be used in a violent crime and the subject will not be able to distribute illegal narcotics #Allegedly in the near future. See more

Today, Hemet Police Chief Eddie J. Pust had the honor to participate in Hemet Unified School District’s Principal for a Day at Bautista Creek Elementary School. During this two-hour event, Principal Greg Giroux provided information regarding the on-line learning across Hemet Unified School District and the amazing work the teachers, students, staff and parents are doing. Chief Pust received a unique perspective of the strategies and considerations HUSD put in place to support virtual learning and continued engagement with students at every age and every development, K-12.

Each and everyday, we are floored by the amount of support we receive from our community. Whether it’s a nod and a thumbs up while we wait at a traffic light or a group of kids dropping by the station simply to tell us thank you, we are truly humbled. Today; however, we found ourselves speechless. The wonderful Avila Famiy stopped by the Police Department with a taco vendor to feed our day and night shift officers and dispatchers. A heartfelt Thank you to the Avila Family, as well as our community, we are truly lucky to have you. #HPDfamily #WeLoveTacos #AreYouKiddingMe #GetInMyBelly #Thankful #LoveOurCommunity

STREET RACING.... IT’S NOT WORTH IT Street racing is never a good idea, especially when Officers Reynoso and Tabor are in the area. These two were seen racing on Florida Ave. at a high rate of speed and found themselves not only with misdemeanor arrests, but also having their vehicles impounded for 30 days. Street racing is dangerous for everyone. From the persons participating in the race to the innocent members of our community walking and driving in the area, it’s just not worth it. #NotWorthIt #30DayTow #DriveSafe

#ROCSRewind Last week #HemetPD received a lot of community feedback after several social media posts were made regarding fentanyl and the sales of illegal narcotics. We heard your concerns and the #ROCS detectives quickly went to work. Thursday evening the ROCS detectives conducted a follow up investigation at a local residence. During the probation search #Detectives located a 1/4 pound of fentanyl-laced counterfeit prescription pills (approximately 600 individual pills) and a 1/2 pound of methamphetamine. One #knucklehead was placed under arrest and almost $10,000 of illegal narcotics were taken off the streets. If you have any information regarding illegal activity occurring in your neighborhood or community please contact #HPD and report it!

#FeelGoodStory Today the Hemet Police Department was contacted by a property owner regarding several subjects squatting at his residence. #ROCS Detectives arrived on scene and contacted a single mother and young child. Through their investigation, detectives determined the single mother had been a victim of real-estate/rental fraud. With the assistance of @ValleyCommunityPantry , ROCS Detectives were able to provide a temporary home for this mother and child. Valley Community Pantry intents to follow up with Mom to develop a long term program and locate a permanent home for this family. Awesome job by all involved and a sincere THANK YOU to Valley Community Pantry.
