Simran & Rishabh’s micro-wedding at the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point was STUNNING They had a tinyyyy ceremony with just their closest family, and of course these gorgeous florals from @freshbybrandon. We hung out at the beach and around the hotel snapping photos of these two absolutely KILLING it in front of the camera. Model much!? ... I love love small weddings like this. Happy Friday y’all! Super hyped for the weekend - heading to Joshua Tree with Steph and @focalfluid and his bf for a queercation (queers on vacation duh). It’ll be SO nice to relax a bit in the desert! Quick note about these pics: Leah was nervous about being awkward in front of the camera. Can you tell?? MEEEE FUCKIN EITHER! She and Cole (and Lyla, the star of the show) were complete naturals. Maybe it helps that we’re all good friends from college, or maybe it’s just because I can pose ANYONE and make sure they don’t look awkward. DEFFF the latter

HOW TO BOOK MORE QUEER COUPLES Had some GREAT chats on Clubhouse this AM with some good friends in the wedding industry about inclusivity and how you can talk the talk, but you have to walk the walk too. If you are still using gendered language on your website, change it! That includes the words bride, groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, fiance, fiancee, etc. Also, stop assuming everyone coming to your website is a woman who wants to be called a bride! Not only straig...ht couples get married, y’all. Changing the language on your site and your socials is the first step. Do you have any queer couples on your website or socials? If your answer is no and you’re about to say, Queer people don’t inquire with me so I haven’t booked any!, I don’t wanna hear it! You need to make an effort. They’re not booking with you because they don’t see themselves represented in your work. Change that! Reach out to local queer couples and ask if they’d be down to shoot with you. Do this over and over until you have a ton of great content and can post queer couples as much as you do straight couples. The key thing is to be genuine. It’s so easy to see through the MASS AMOUNTS of photographers who just want to shoot queer couples so people think they’re ~inclusive~. They shoot one couple, post photos from the shoot a few times, blog it, and call it a day. You have to be consistent so people know you’re genuine and not just tokenizing a community for your own benefit. If y’all need help, let me know! I’d love to help out in any way I can. CHEERS!

HOW TO POSE SAME SEX COUPLES The same way you pose any other couple!! But, if you REALLY need some tips, I have some for ya! I like to do every pose twice. One for one partner to lead, one for the other. That way you aren’t forcing gendered stereotypes on either partner and they both can participate equally! Also, just follow their lead. If one partner gravitates towards leading a pose, let them! It also doesn’t hurt to ask if they’re comfortable with the pose...s or if they feel awkward. Because when you feel good, you look good, and that shows on camera! Kendra & Kaitlyn decided to elope in Texas a few weeks back and wanted to document their marriage with some cute pics by yours truly I love hanging with these two! We met about two years ago for another photo session (flowers, Jeep, and sparklers if you remember!) and have kept in touch via good ol Instagram since then. I was stoked when Kendra reached out to book this session while she and Kait were in town!
