Helix Disc Golf Monthly Results @ Nicklaus DIsc Golf Park in Beaumont 10/03/20

*FEELER POST* Unfortunately, we are unable to host the 10/3 Helix Monthly at Palm Royale because they are closed for fall overseeding. We’re thinking of taking the show on the road, but not too far or any obvious choices. We’ve scouted out Nicklaus Disc Golf Park in Beaumont. It is a fun little pitch and putt 9-hole course with holes ranging from about 150-250 feet at most. Total ace run city!!!!... The plan is to play 27 holes (3 loops). The first loop would be the normal layout. The second loop would be a one-disc challenge (you’re only allowed to use one disc for all 9 holes). Third loop we would play a safari layout we designed with a few short par-4 combo holes and some trickier par-3s around other parts of the park. We’re just gauging interest. Curious if any of our local Coachella Valley regulars will want to make the drive or carpool out (about 45 minutes or so). We’re also hoping to draw a few more IE folks who won’t have to drive as far. Probably an 8:00 or 9:00 shotgun start to beat the heat. $250 ace pot will be on the line and it won’t be shocking if there are multiple winners. It would be split evenly. I’m thinking if anyone actually gets multiple aces, they’d get corresponding multiple shares of the pot! Rather than our usual monthly format, this will be a cash contest. $10 per player with $1 to the ace pot and $1 to the club. Then the rest will go to top 30% payout in each division based on total score for all 27 holes We’d have some on-course CTPs and other stuff (maybe a mini ring of fire for anyone who picks up a new Helix custom mini Judge disc ). It doesn’t seem like the course gets much play, so it seems like we won’t have any issues showing up and having a decent-sized group out there. It’s a beginner course, so I doubt it or the neighboring dog park (around which a few of our safari holes will play) ever draws big crowds. If any locals has more insight or foresee any issues, we appreciate your insight in advance. We are aware there are no restrooms at the park, which is one unfortunate thing we will have to deal with. It’s something a little different, but we think it could be a lot of fun if there’s enough interest. The course is up on UDisc - check it out!
