Another Answer about Health What about Water with Meals? ... This is a question that many clients have asked me over the years. A lot of people were raised with the belief that drinking fluids at mealtimes was bad, because it would dilute the digestive secretions. Sound familiar? What if I told you that that’s EXACTLY what you needed to do---dilute the digestive secretions! Because drinking water activates important enzymes. Enzymes dissolve food into particles the body can then absorb and use nutritionally. Without drinking enough fluids at mealtime you will feel tired after eating, a very common complaint I hear all the time. Eating food without liquids is extremely stressful on the body. When food first enters your mouth it responds by creating even more saliva, a fluid secreted from the salivary glands surrounding the oral cavity. Saliva moistens food for help with chewing, breaking down starches, and initiating the digestive process. Think how uncomfortable it would be to chew food with a dry mouth! The same goes for a dry stomach. That’s why drinking two glasses of water with each meal helps digestion. In fact, your body rushes a THIRD of its blood supply to the intestines when food is being consumed to help the process along. And if you are already low in fluids (dehydrated), which most people are, then the stress on the body becomes even more pronounced, and it reacts by producing a specific hormone. The hormone that the body releases when that happens? Insulin! Have you ever eaten a big meal, maybe had several slices of bread or rolls, some pasta, etc., and been so full you couldn’t take another bite no matter what? Then suddenly the dessert tray looms into sight, and you find yourself ordering something sugary and decadent without a moment’s hesitation. What happened?! Actually, there is a physical reason for that craving. When insulin levels spike, it sets up a desire for carbs and sweets. That is your body’s trick to get substances that will give it quick energy to cope with the stress of trying to digest food. And here’s a built in diet tip, ladies. If you don’t want to succumb to all those sugary calories, drink at least two glasses of water when you eat, and a third one when you’ve finished your meal. Not only have you aided better digestion to take place, but the desire for sweets vanishes! It’s magic! Percy McManus Health Excellence.com

Another Answer about Health Rashes and Itchy Skin... Humans have four eliminating systems: the bladder, lungs, colon, and skin, with the skin being the largest. An adult has approximately 22 square feet of skin, weighing about 8 pounds, on average. Over time, many adults will find themselves experiencing odd rashes that seem to come out of nowhere, or perhaps skin that seems to itch for no reason. Why does it happen? Is there a common cause? There is a common cause. When someone does not eliminate toxins and waste products efficiently through their bowels, bladder or lungs it will start to build up underneath the skin. Eventually, given the right circumstances, like sweating or being out in the sun too long, or being dehydrated, the toxins will become so concentrated that they are pushed out through the skin. There have been cases where people have accumulated so many toxins through the winter, and who rarely exercised, that when they first sweat in the summer they get a rash! It’s usually called a heat rash, or summer rash. It’s due to the toxicity that built up over time. When people get cancerous growths on their skin they need to address the underlying problem of poor elimination that started the problem to begin with. Improving the bowels and bladder with herbs and more water, salt and potassium, the two electrolytes responsible for maintaining fluid balance in the body, are critical to turning the situation around. One of the quickest ways to neutralize the toxicity of skin rashes is to take a large dose of vitamin C. Usually 5,000 mgs. to 8,000 mgs. all at once. It is also excellent for combating toxicity accumulated from chemicals and medications. Vitamin C is water soluble, meaning the body cannot hold onto it, and humans are incapable of manufacturing it, so it must be gotten from supplements. Yes, fruits and vegetables will have some, but not nearly what they used to have, so I don’t recommend foods with C as much as I tell clients to find a good supplement to get the dose they need. Another Answer about Health Supplements---How Much Should You Take?... Taking nutritional supplements is something most people now accept as normal, given that our food has been grown with chemicals and pesticides and can no longer meet our requirements for staying healthy. The question is, how much and how many supplements should we be taking? After 40 years of muscle-testing clients (also known by its formal name, kinesiology) hundreds of thousands of times, I have a pretty good idea of the true nutritional requirements for most situations. And the amount has very little in common with what’s printed on a bottle. I always warn my clients to pay no attention to it, because by law, no manufacturer of nutritional supplements can state a therapeutic dose, or they would be shut down by the FDA, so they print some lame amount that will rarely do anyone any good. A therapeutic dose means taking enough of a substance to actually bring about a change in the body and give it the ability to heal itself. These food pellets, as I call supplements, are not chemical drugs, so you can always take more without harm to meet the needs of the body. After all, this is food that actually helps the body repair itself. Drugs suppress and bully the body into submission, sometimes to the point of being life-threatening. Herbs and vitamins never do that. Instead, they enhance the body’s systems so it can re-establish health. One more thing: sometimes clients tell me they had a blood panel done and that it showed they were in the normal range for a particular nutrient. By whose standard? What and who was it determined by? I have discovered their so-called normal ranges are appallingly inaccurate. Since most people are chronically deficient in vitamins and minerals doctors don’t know any better, and conclude that the typical range must be normal. No, not normal, but common due to widespread deficiencies. Big difference. When my clients actually take the amounts of vitamins and minerals their body needs and feel fantastic and full of energy, western medicine tests say they are too high in those nutrients. That’s why I tell people don’t take the results of the test too seriously. I believe their standards are outdated and tell the wrong story.
