We know that safe staffing saves lives, said Mawata Kamara, another Bay Area ER RN. Some hospitals are already requiring nurses to care for more patients than is safe. Removing safety standards will only increase the suffering and the death count for patients, nurses and other health care workers. More than 71,000 California healthcare workers have been infected and 265 have died.
Health care workers, who are among the first to receive the vaccine in California, are encouraged to contact their healthcare providers for the vaccine first, but if none are available, they can make an appointment for the county’s vaccine super station at www.VaccinationSuperStationSD.com, county officials said.

California’s Filipino-American Nurses are dying from COVID-19 at alarming rates. "Nationally, over 30% of the 205 nurses who have died are Filipino American, though the group makes up just 4% of the nursing workforce. In California, where about 20% of nurses identify as Filipino, they account for 11 of the 16 COVID-19 deaths in the profession, or nearly 70%, according to the California Nurses Association." https://www.mercurynews.com//californias-filipino-americ/
President/Attorney Kevin C. Murphy is a Guest Speaker at today's Shining Stars of Nursing in Nevada event, and is lecturing on "Nursing Discipline and the Importance of Documentation" designed to help the next generation of healthcare providers avoid making mistakes in providing patient care.
Governor Newsom just signed Assembly Bill 890, legislation that will allow Nurse Practitioners ("NPs") to practice independently provided that they work under the supervision of a doctor for a minimum 3-year transition period. This new law will go into effect in 2023 and its purpose is to increase access to care in rural and low-income areas. The Medical Board of California has been staunchly opposed to this new legislation arguing that NPs are not qualified to practice independently, but the Board of Registered Nursing supports the change. However, other nursing organizations believe the law is too restrictive and that NPs should not require physician oversight. What are your thoughts on having an NP serve as your Primary Care Provider? https://www.sacbee.com//capitol-ale/article246035050.html

USA Today article describing the "slow down" of disciplinary actions initiated against physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the article appears to be properly sourced/vetted, Murphy Jones APC's experience with state licensing agencies is that they are NOT slowing down disciplinary actions and are continuing to prosecute cases against our clients at an everly increasing rate. https://www.usatoday.com//medical-malpractice/5626449002/

Nurses are continuing to face PPE shortages as the nation's battle against COVID-19 rages on. "In a survey of more than 21,000 nurses conducted by the American Nurses Association, a third reported that they were out of or short of N95 masks designed to offer maximum protection in a hospital setting." https://www.bloomberg.com//nurses-say-they-re-short-on-mas
