The City of Hayward needs volunteers! Thanks to a partnership between the City of Hayward, Alameda County Community Food Bank and Chabot College, the City of Hayward launched a drive-thru food distribution site for community members in need. The drive-thru food distribution will take place on Thursday, October 1st at the Chabot College. They are planning to serve between 600-650 vehicles. ... Throughout the month of September, the City of Hayward will be highlighting weekly preparation activities and providing resources to help Hayward households get ready.... A major earthquake along the Hayward fault is considered an inevitability in addition to events we have been experiencing in recent yearsextreme heat, wildfires, power outages and a viral pandemic. Week 1 of National Preparedness Month 2020 (https://www.ready.gov/september) encourages households to Make a Plan (https://www.ready.gov/plan), which entails getting familiar with the types of disasters that can affect our communities, knowing how to connect with one another in a disaster or other emergency, and how to reconnect if separated.
