In-Person Learning Preference Form Closes Wednesday, April 7. Students whose families do not complete the form will continue in full distance learning. PLEASE D...ISREGARD IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED YOUR PREFERENCE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR. This is a reminder for families that have not yet completed the form to select in-person or distance learning for the remainder of the school year. The form deadline was extended to allow as many families as possible to submit their preference. Please submit a response for EACH child currently registered with HUSD. For example, if you have two HUSD students, you would complete the form twice. We are finalizing plans for a return to in-person learning, so more details regarding dates, times, and schedules will be provided soon. Yesterday we had two of our California State University, East Bay students, one alumni (Kelli Cosby) and one current (Albert Del Castillo) sophomore, speak on the last panel sessions of our #PromiseNeighborhoods2020 conference. They shared insights of how to support students to and through college and reminded us of the power of student voice. One change I would like to see is for most decisions to be student-focused. Greetings, Hayward! I am honored to join the Hayward Promise Neighborhoods and California State University, East Bay in the capacity of Executive Director. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve Hayward where I grew up and continue to call home as a resident of the Cherryland community. My experience as a first-generation immigrant and college graduate has informed my work to prepare all students to access college and career opportunities. I’ve spent the last ten years l...eading college success programs in schools in San José, CA and East Palo Alto, CA. I earned my B.A. from Stanford University and am completing an Ed.M. at Harvard University in Prevention Science and Practice. I hope to lift up the incredible work already happening in support of our residents, schools, and partnering agencies towards our collective vision of a thriving Hayward.
