All month long we're celebrating women who paved the way for others. In Law enforcement history we look to women such as Alice Stebbins Wells, Marie Owens, Josephine Serrano, Isabella Goodwin, Georgia Ann Robinson, and more. All important figures who created change and left a lasting impression in our world. We of course want to thank all of the the women currently in Law Enforcement, proudly continuing the tradition to Protect and Serve our community every day.

It is with a heavy heart that The Riverside Police Officers' Association informs you of the passing of Riverside Police Detective Ronel Newton. On August 6, 1993, Nathan Sims shot Long Beach Police Sergeant Abel Dominguez during a traffic stop. Abel was gravely injured but ultimately survived the attack. Abel suffered catastrophic injuries resulting in permanent disabilities. On November 10, 2020, Sims will be going before the Parole Board again for consideration of an early release from his life sentence. We need your help in opposing this early release. Sims has shown no remorse, nor has he taken any responsibility... for his crimes. Please Join Us In Our Opposition to Mr. Sims' Release: https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messag/edit It is imperative that we show our support for the Dominguez family as well as make it clear to the Parole Board that we believe Nathan Sims still presents a danger to society and should serve out the term of life in prison as prescribed by the sentencing court. We kindly ask that you submit the attached letter via this platform to the Board of Parole.

You are not alone, help does exist for our Law Enforcement family. Today on it’s more important than ever to understand that CopLine exists specifically to support the badge. They offer a 100% confidential line 24/7 with vetted, trained, and retired officers ready to listen. Men and women who truly understand the weight of the badge. --- (-) .. ! We know that taking care of your community ...is key, but please take time to protect your peace of mind too. #WorldMentalHealthDay

The goal of the HPOA is to help increase dialogue among law enforcement leaders, city leaders and officers when it comes to this topic. By working together to raise our awareness and our understanding of suicide and mental health issues, our hope is that we can prevent any future law enforcement suicides. Let’s not forget those we have lost to suicide. It’s a reality , don’t be silent , reach out to those around you. You never know who’s life you might save. We are all we have. Take care of one another.

**IMPORTANT PLEASE READ** Law Enforcement Family, Our profession is under attack and the California Coalition of Law Enforcement Associations needs your help. Senate Bill 731, authored by Senator Steven Bradford, will change the landscape of California Law Enforcement forever.... Senate Bill 731 is part of the defund the police efforts and we must speak up. SB 731 includes: - An unjust de-certification process, that establishes a new 9-member commission within POST that will handle the de-certification - 6 out of the 9 de-certification commissioners MUST be either anti-police activists, convicted felons, academics, lawyers who specialize in suing police departments or family members of suspects killed by police - Your protections under POBRA (Peace Officer Bill of Rights Act) don’t exist under the de-certification commission - Removal of Qualified Immunity for law enforcement officers - Opens up law enforcement officers to personal financial liability and permanent de-certification even in cases where you follow the law and comply with all use of force policies pursuant to AB 392 from last year. Unfortunately, Senator Bradford's office does not want to meet with L.E. and our California State Legislator(s) need to hear from YOU!! Please email, call, text and send video messages to your state legislator(s) and urge them to: VOTE NO on SB 731
